Chatteris Osteopaths We are a multi-disciplinary complementary healthcare centre offering high quality MSK care

Chatteris osteopaths is a well-established clinic which has been providing osteopathy and complementary healthcare services to the residents of Chatteris, Fenland and the wider Cambridgeshire community for over 20 years. In addition to our core osteopathic services, we also provide other therapies such as massage, reiki and chiropody. We even have a small gym studio where we run small Pilates and other rehab fitness classes as well as one-on-one personal training sessions.

“So I went to the doctor and said my shoulder hurts when I do this… so the doctor said, well don’t do that then.” Tommy Cooper

It’s a funny line, but it reflects a reality many people experience.

A lot of our patients come to us after being told to simply rest and avoid what hurts. While that can help in the very short term, it often doesn’t solve the underlying problem.

In most cases, the key isn’t avoiding movement, it’s learning how to move better - gradually rebuilding strength, and challenging the body in the right way.

Pain isn’t always a stop sign. Sometimes it’s a signal that we need a smarter plan.

If you’ve been stuck in the cycle of “just rest it,” there may be a better way forward.

Seeing my daughter striking this pose outside the Louvre got me thinking…

Children aren’t just flexible because they’re young, they stay that way because they’re constantly moving, stretching, and putting their bodies into all sorts of positions without a second thought.

As we get older, we tend to lose that habit. We sit more, move less, and gradually our bodies become stiffer and less resilient.

The good news? Flexibility isn’t just about age - it’s something we can all work on and improve.

Keep moving, keep stretching, keep flexible. Your body will thank you for it.

HEEL PAIN: Are you doing the right exercises - but in the wrong way?

Just doing the right exercises isn’t going to get the results you want - you need to be doing them in the RIGHT WAY!

TOP TIP: Don’t do it all at once! If you’re doing a spring clean of your garage (always a daunting task!) then maybe don’t do it all at once. Spread it over a few days or weekends - your back will thank you 👍

❌ Most flare-ups aren’t caused by doing anything wrong.

💡 They’re usually due to overload, tension, sleep, or movement habits.

Your body is adaptable - it just needs the right nudge 👈

Here’s a tiny morning habit your back will love:
Before standing, gently rock your knees side to side for 10 seconds.
It helps your spine wake up safely.
Try it tomorrow
(You’re welcome 😉)

If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you.

3 weeks in to January and sticking to those resolutions sometimes requires a bit of motivation
