🩺 World Kidney Day – Are Your Kidneys Healthy? 🩺

Today we’re supporting World Kidney Day, a global campaign focused on raising awareness of kidney health and the importance of early testing.

Kidney disease often has no symptoms in the early stages, which is why regular monitoring is so important.

You may be at higher risk if you:
βœ”οΈ Have diabetes
βœ”οΈ Have high blood pressure
βœ”οΈ Have heart disease
βœ”οΈ Are over 60
βœ”οΈ Have a family history of kidney disease
βœ”οΈ Are from a Black, Asian or minority ethnic background

Simple blood and urine tests can help detect problems early.

If you have any of these risk factors or would like a kidney health check, please contact the practice to book an appointment.

πŸ’™ Young Carers Action Day – Recognising & Supporting Young Carers πŸ’™

Today, our GP Practice is proud to support Young Carers Action Day, a national campaign highlighting the incredible contribution of young carers across the UK.

A young carer is someone under 18 who helps to care for a family member with a disability, long-term illness, mental health condition, or substance misuse issue. While many young carers show remarkable resilience, caring responsibilities can sometimes impact their education, social life, and emotional wellbeing.

We want young carers and their families to know:
πŸ’™ You are not alone
πŸ’™ Support is available
πŸ’™ Your health and wellbeing matter too

If you are a young carer, or think your child may be one, please let us know. Our practice team can offer support and help connect you with local services.

πŸ’› March is Endometriosis Awareness Month πŸ’›

This month, our GP Practice is supporting Endometriosis Awareness Month to help raise understanding of a condition that affects around 1 in 10 women and people assigned female at birth.

Endometriosis occurs when tissue similar to the lining of the womb grows outside of the uterus. It can cause a range of symptoms, including:
β€’ Painful, heavy or irregular periods
β€’ Pelvic pain outside of periods
β€’ Pain during or after s*x
β€’ Pain when going to the toilet
β€’ Bloating (β€œendo belly”)
β€’ Fatigue
β€’ Difficulty getting pregnant

Many people live with symptoms for years before receiving a diagnosis. Severe period pain is not something you should feel you have to β€œjust put up with.” If pain or other symptoms are affecting your daily life, work, education or relationships, please speak to us.

Early support can make a real difference. We are here to listen, assess your symptoms, and discuss appropriate investigations, treatment options, or referral where needed.

If you are experiencing symptoms or have concerns, please contact the practice to book an appointment.
