Comfort in the garden 🌿🌱

Volunteer Penny shared her story as part of our Volunteer Recruitment Campaign, inspiring others to give their time to support the Hospice.

After her husband Steve was cared for at St Raphael’s, Penny knew instantly she wanted to get involved. Today, she volunteers in seven different roles, from gardening and reception to companionship, storytelling and running our plant stall.

“Each plant is as well cared for as the people who walk through these doors,” Penny says. “That’s what makes this place so special.”

Penny’s story is a beautiful reminder of the impact one person can make 💜

What an unforgettable Wedding Fair on Saturday! 💍💐

A huge thank you to everyone who attended. It was a fantastic day filled with bargains, stunning catwalks and plenty of wedding inspiration. We were delighted to have a number of brides-to-be who said 'yes to the dress!" raising over £3,000 for the Hospice!

We're so proud of our amazing Ward HCA, Katie Torbett, who has recently published two beautifully written children's books to help families navigate grief after baby loss.

The books are a gentle and thoughtful way to support children dealing with the loss of a sibling. Katie’s now working on two more books to help children who are grieving a grandparent.

St Raphael's Round Up 💜

There's been a lot happening recently from special events to meaningful moments with those under our care. We've pulled together some highlights to share with you.

🌸 Our gardens have been looking vibrant and peaceful in the sunshine, thanks to our hardworking gardeners, everything’s in full bloom, with courgettes starting to appear!

📰 The latest Raphaelite magazine is out! Grab a physical copy at the Hospice or read it online to stay updated anywhere!

🦸 Our Superhero Family Fun Day was a huge success, with many of you dressed up and raising vital funds for the Hospice!

🎶 Visitors at our Wellbeing Centre enjoyed not one, but two fantastic performances-one from our talented local primary school and another from the wonderful Rory!

On Saturday, Lizzie, Simon and Brenda proudly represented St Raphael’s at the Pride Parade in central London, marching alongside the London LGBTQ+ Hospice Group. Standing together in celebration, support and solidarity.

"It was amazing to feel the love and support that the hospice community generates with the public. It was also an amazing opportunity to get the message over that hospice care is for everyone whatever their gender or orientation", said Simon.
