Today is World Sleep Day
The official theme for World Sleep Day 2026 (March 13) is "Sleep Well, Live Better". This theme highlights that quality, uninterrupted sleep is a crucial foundation for physical, mental, and emotional health, aiming to shift the perception of sleep from a luxury to a necessity for improved daily energy, productivity, and overall quality of life.
Key Aspects of World Sleep Day 2026
Core Message: Sleep is a non-negotiable, essential pillar of health, similar to nutrition and exercise.
Focus Areas: The campaign encourages improving sleep hygiene to enhance mental health, regulate mood, and support immune function.
Actionable Tips (10-5-3-2-1 rule): Calm 10 hours before bed: stop caffeine; 5 hours before: avoid alcohol; 3 hours before: finish meals; 2 hours before: stop work; 1 hour before: turn off screens.
Activity Focus: In some regions, a secondary focus is on "Make Sleep Health a Priority," particularly regarding children's bedtime routines.
Global Participation: Observed on the Friday before the vernal equinox, with activities in over 70 countries.
Sleep isn’t just downtime—it's the body’s reset button. During sleep your brain consolidates memories and clears waste, which improves learning, creativity, and decision-making. Your hormones (hunger, stress, growth) get balanced, helping weight control and mood stability.
Deep sleep repairs tissues and strengthens the immune system, lowering illness risk. Chronic sleep loss raises the chance of diabetes, heart disease, anxiety and poor focus. Aim for consistent sleep timing and 7–9 hours for most adults.
Prioritise sleep like you would an important meeting; your body will thank you.
I know so many people struggle with sleep.
I do have some advice and that would be to use a little lavender essential oil - I work closely with a company called doTERRA and their oils are amazing. Please contact me for further information and how to purchase.
I would suggest adding a drop of Lavender to any body moisture cream and rubbing onto the heels of your feet 1 hour before bed. This should support the calming of the body and mind. You can also add a drop to your pillow or have in a diffuser during the evening before bed to help you relax. Some clients even have a diffuser in their bedroom.
