'IS COLLECTING MONEY FOR LENNOX CHILDREN’S CANCER FUND’S TEN-DAY CHALLENGE!
Spending time together is important, especially for families with a child fighting cancer, but it can be very difficult to fit quality time around treatment. This is why we offer free, memory-making respite holidays to give families the opportunity to spend ‘normal’ quality time together without being too far from a UK hospital.
We fit holidays around the child’s treatment schedule and make all the arrangements, so that every respite break is as stress-free as possible.
We have two holiday homes at Shorefield Country Park on the south coast of England-a beautiful three-bedroom lodge, and a large, luxury, three-bedroom caravan. It is the perfect location for families in need of some rest and relaxation, with the beach at Milford on Sea nearby and the New Forest National Park just down the road.
Our third holiday home at Broad Oak Farm is in the heart of the Suffolk countryside-a gorgeous, Grade II listed, seven-bedroom house with games room, tennis court and a variety of small farm animals on site!
We offer three, four and seven night breaks, which means that every year we can give up to 192 families some desperately needed quality time together, away from doctors, hospitals and treatment. Where possible we also provide families with spending money to help alleviate any money worries and ensure a completely relaxed and care-free holiday.
Our fundraising team and supporters raise money all year round so that we can continue to cover all of the costs associated with the project, from site fees, utility bills and cleaning charges, to replacement of worn-out furnishing, appliances, toys and games. Sadly, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge detrimental effect on our ability to raise the money needed, which presents us with a new challenge now our holiday homes have reopened.
To the families who benefit from these respite breaks the project is invaluable, but for us it cost over £60,000 per year. '
