People are sometimes worried about the cost of charging electric vehicles, but it is significantly cheaper than filling up a petrol or diesel vehicle.

Switching to an EV can save you about £750 a year in fuel costs.

The price of buying used EVs has also dropped by over 30% since 2022.

Brilliant news for sustainable travel in Essex!

🔄Hamburger roundabout to reduce congestion
🚌New bus priority lanes
🚸Better walking and cycling routes around the junction
🚗Expansion to Sandon Park and Ride site

All improvements to the Army and Navy, Chelmsford

We're developing an £81 million Sustainable Transport Package that will make journeys safer, greener and healthier. This includes a new hamburger roundabout designed to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion at this busy junction.

There will also be new bus priority lanes and better walking and cycling routes at and around the junction.

The Sandon Park and Ride site will be expanded to support future growth and to help more people travel into the city centre. The planned expansion of Chelmer Valley Park and Ride will not go ahead as part of this work so that the rest of the project can stay on track and within budget.

Planning permission was granted in November 2024. Detailed design work is now complete and we expect to publish compulsory purchase orders next month.

A new video has been released showing plans to transform the Army and Navy junction in Chelmsford, which you can find on our YouTube channel.

Thank you for joining us at our fun and interactive Health and Wellbeing Festival, which also included our annual awards ceremony.

The event featured a wide range of engaging activities for children, young people and school staff, all supported by local providers who promote a whole school approach to health and wellbeing.

Our aim was to showcase health and wellbeing opportunities and, most importantly, to create a space where children and young people could feel inspired and empowered to facilitate positive change.
