If you are experiencing the perimenopause or menopause and feel frustrated because your workouts aren’t giving you the same results as before.

Despite exercising regularly, you might be experiencing low energy, weight gain, or a lack of progress.

This could be because your body is undergoing hormonal changes, and the way you train may need to adapt.

Understanding your menstrual cycle and how your hormones affect your body could be the missing link.

By adjusting your exercise routine to match your hormonal phase, you can train smarter, not harder.

Strength training, balanced with recovery and lighter intensity workouts, can help maintain muscle mass and support your overall well-being.

If you are struggling with any of these symptoms please don't hesitate to contact me.

In this video, Josh and Faizana discuss the effects of exercise during perimenopause and menopause focusing on resistance training, bone health and stabilisi...

Happy 2024 to each and every one of you. I wish you all the peace, space and clarity to achieve your ambitions, smash your goals and reconnect with your true selves.

This year I am creating a private woman's Facebook group that will enable me (and you) to support one another during the menopausal years. Every topic will be covered!

I will offer live training, information on the latest products, events and question and answer sessions based on shared experiences of the perimenopause and menopause.

I have been using a lot more hormonal functional testing with my beautiful clients, because I want to pin point symptoms of hormone imbalances and get lasting results for my clients.

There are way more than the three standard s*x hormones that are always spoken about!

So... if you are struggling with your menopausal health and you want to talk freely, learn and join a supportive group, please stay tuned...

What do cleaning products and personal hygiene possibly have to do with PMS, fertility issues and uterine cancer?...

Chemicals that disguise themselves as 'naturally produced' (endogenous) estrogen can wreak havoc with our monthly cycle and over time these chemicals alter our DNA.

We can't avoid chemicals in our environment or homes, but what we can do is make more informed choice about what we put on our bodies and what we clean our homes with.

Have you ever noticed the link between perfumes and the overuse of chemicals worsening your PMS symptoms?

Hormonal dark clouds can be really hard to shift especially as they come out a week or two before the menstrual cycle. For some of us they can feel very oppressive and never-ending.

So why does this happen with such regularity?

Firstly, the intricate balance between progesterone and estrogen can easily tip towards a condition known as 'estrogen dominance'.

This can create the surge in PMS/PMT symptoms such as mood swings, bloating, fatigue, tender breasts, insomnia, bad skin and brain fog…

Secondly, diets that rely heavily on refined sugars (junk food), low fibre and a higher ratio of non-organic meat can contribute to an estrogen dominant cycle.

The odd glass of wine may make it past our lips but it can really cause havoc with the liver and tip the body towards a more PMS filled cycle.

Last but not least, long term chronic stress can cause a depletion in the hormone progesterone and upset the estrogen ratio.

So how do we start to work on our monthly PMS/PMT?

Firstly recognise the symptoms for what they are, and know that it may take three cycles or more to see meaningful results.

Start by supporting the liver and digestive system, they are both involved in the metabolism (break down) and excretion of all of your hormones (including estrogen).

Increase your consumption of green vegetables such as broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, carrots, spinach, sweet potatoes, kale and chard…

Try to include sulphur rich vegetables such as radishes, white and red onions, leeks, shallots and chive. Your liver will love you!

Add more fibre rich foods such as lentils, chickpeas, black beans and adzuki beans to support estrogen clearance from the body…

This is by no means an exhaustive list and it may seem like a tall order but small, meaningful ‘tweakments’ can create lasting results.

The menopausal journey is not always a smooth one. Hormonal changes can begin in a woman's mid 30's and onwards, and this is quite often because of an imbalance of the main s*x hormones estrogen and progesterone.

This is a natural process, but when we look at the cause of these imbalances we find a few common themes or root causes that are causing a person to experience more pronounced symptoms of the perimenopause and menopause.

One of my first perimenopause symptoms was an all over body itch that I couldn't 'fix', despite changing fabric conditioners and almost changing my entire wardrobe!

There are over 60 documented symptoms of the menopause...

So to begin ... do you recognise any of these symptoms?

Thank you to everyone that came to the Understanding Menopause talk last night at Chelmsford Cathedral.

It was so lovely to see you and hear some of your experiences, (plus share some of my own).

I was also really pleased to see husbands and partners attend the talk. There has been a real shift in the need for men to understand what their loved ones are experiencing.

Remember that the body is always trying to find balance and even though many of us feel so out of control and detached from our bodies during the perimenopause and menopause, there are so many ways that we can reconnect.

One of those ways is to start talking x

Tomorrow I will be seeing some of you at my joint talk (with create PT) on the menopause.

This topic is an emotive one because somewhere along the line we have either known someone struggling with the symptoms of the perimenopause and menopause, or we are swimming in those very tides ourselves!

Maybe you are struggling with physical and mental changes in your wellbeing, but you are in your 30's and you think you are too young to be peri-menopausal.

Perhaps some of you are taking a form of hormone replacement therapy and you still don't 'feel' right in your own skin.

This is quite common and despite waiting for something to change you may never get the results that you deserve.

So.. If you come to my chat I will explain the role that functional testing has to play. I will tell you about how you can support your organs of elimination and how stress can rob you of your hormones (despite taking HRT)!

I will also highlight how you can eat to support your weight and build ultimate strength.

If you can't make it, I hope to share as much as I can with you on this page. 💪🥦😍
