We are a 64 bedded unit consisting of fifty eight private bedrooms and a high observation unit. Each private bedroom has its own en-suite facilities and a television with remote control. We provide meals via room service and can arrange catering for your relatives and friends upon request. Our consultants are subject to strict vetting procedures to ensure only those with the appropriate experience and qualifications are granted Practising Privileges. Springfield Hospital's parent company is Ramsay Health Care UK, an Australian company with a network of private hospitals and treatment centres across the country. Springfield Hospital is the largest Ramsay Hospital in the UK and is situated in a semi-rural location on the outskirts of Chelmsford, with attractive landscaped gardens and free parking. We are also accessible via train or bus service with Chelmsford train station being 10 minutes distance away by car and bus routes stopping directly outside of the hospital. Over the years Springfield Hospital has striven to provide a first class environment and service through a programme of continued development of our staff, the facilities and investment. As a result, we are able to provide an excellent facility, with experienced, highly skilled staff. The hospital also provides access to advanced medical technology to ensure a safe and a comfortable patient experience. The ‘NJR Quality Data Provider’ certificate scheme was introduced to offer hospitals a blueprint for reaching high quality standards relating to patient safety and to reward those who have met the registry’s high targets in the achievement of the quality of the data collected. We were awarded “JAG” accreditation in 2023. This accreditation verifies that the endoscopy service at Springfield are meeting rigorous, high quality standards which are used across the UK and Republic of Ireland to support improvement in clinical care and the patient experience. This means that patients can feel confident in their endoscopy service and be assured of receiving high quality consistent care. At the end of 2012 we ranked 1st on an external and independent Private Healthcare website earning us the title of "Patient Choice 2012".

Expanding Aquablation Services at Springfield Hospital 💙

We are pleased to continue the rollout of our Aquablation service at Springfield Hospital, now also delivered by Mr Karan Wadhwa and Mr Martin Nuttall, Consultant Urological Surgeons. This innovative treatment represents a major step forward in the management of benign prostatic enlargement (BPE), offering precise, image‑guided tissue removal with reduced risk to continence and sexual function, and a faster return to normal life.

Mr Karan Wadhwa shared his perspective on the importance of both advanced technology and early diagnosis in modern urology:

“As a consultant urological surgeon in private practice, I’ve seen firsthand how innovation transforms outcomes. Robotic prostate aquablation represents a significant advancement in the treatment of benign prostatic enlargement — delivering precise, image‑guided tissue removal with reduced risk to continence and sexual function, and a faster return to normal life for our patients.

Equally important is proactive prostate health screening. Early assessment allows us to detect conditions such as benign enlargement and prostate cancer at a stage when treatment is safer, more effective, and often less invasive. In modern urology, technology and timely screening go hand in hand — combining cutting‑edge robotic solutions with early diagnosis to provide men with longer, healthier and better‑quality lives.”

🌙 Celebrating Eid at Springfield Hospital 🌙

Yesterday, our teams came together to celebrate Eid, a festival marking the end of Ramadan — a time of reflection, gratitude and community. It’s a celebration centred around togetherness, sharing food and strengthening the bonds that connect us.

To mark the occasion, our wonderful Catering Team prepared a free lunch for all staff, featuring a vibrant spread of traditional dishes:

🍽 Mushroom Bhaji – sautéed mushrooms cooked with aromatic spices
🍽 Murgh Chicken Curry – tender chicken simmered in a rich, flavourful sauce
🍽 Saag Aloo – spinach and potatoes cooked with fragrant herbs
🍽 Served with Braised Basmati Rice, Naan Bread and Vegetable Samosas
🍽 Zarda – a sweet, colourful rice dessert traditionally enjoyed during celebrations

🎉 Celebrating a Milestone at Springfield Hospital 🎉

We are delighted to share that Mr Ranjan Thilagarajah, Consultant Urological Surgeon, has now completed his 50th successful Aquablation therapy since the service went live in October — a fantastic achievement for both our patients and our urology team.

Aquablation therapy is an advanced, minimally invasive surgical treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Using the precision of waterjet technology and real‑time imaging, it offers several key benefits, including:

Shorter recovery times
Improved urinary function
A personalised, highly accurate approach to treatment
