All London Marathon runners, for the first time this year, you had to tick a box to say whether you wanted a medal or not. Why wouldn’t anyone want one? 🤷🏼‍♂️ Please check your account to make sure you ticked that box to avoid disappointment at the finish line.

You can request a change to your medal options until 1600 on Tuesday 22 April.

With only four weeks to go until the London Marathon 😧, I thought this was a great guide to planning your race day. Remember, all the training you’ve done is the hardest part—the marathon itself is your lap of honor for all your hard work! 🏃‍♂️🏃🏻🏃🏻‍♀️🥇

How to Survive a Marathon🏃💥

A marathon is not just a test of endurance—it’s a test of discipline, patience, and mental strength. The difference between finishing strong and breaking down comes down to preparation and strategy.

1⃣ Start slow. The energy at the start line will tempt you to push the pace, but holding back in the early miles will keep you from burning out later. A marathon is won in the second half, not the first.

2⃣ Stay fueled and hydrated. Dehydration and energy depletion will end your race early. Take in fluids and fuel consistently, even before you feel like you need them.

3️⃣ Prepare for the mental battle. At some point, exhaustion will set in. Your legs will want to stop. Your mind will look for excuses. Break the race into smaller sections and focus on just getting through the next mile.

4⃣ Walking Is not failing. If needed, controlled walk breaks can help you manage fatigue and finish stronger. The goal is to keep moving forward.

5⃣ Expect the wall—and push through it. When everything hurts and the finish line feels impossible, remember why you started. You trained for this. Trust your preparation and keep going.

6⃣ Listen to your body. Pushing through discomfort is part of the race, but there’s a difference between pain and real danger. If you feel dizzy, disoriented, or in serious distress, stop.

Remember, no finish line is worth risking your health.

After a record-breaking 2024 saw five finishers, this year the field was devastated by the conditions and enhanced challenges
