What’s the difference between SPD and PGP? 🤰SPD and PGP are related but not identical, though people (and even some health professionals) often use the terms interchangeably. Here’s the difference:

SPD (Symphysis P***s Dysfunction):
• Refers specifically to excessive movement or instability at the symphysis p***s joint (the joint at the front of the pelvis where the two p***c bones meet).
• Usually caused by hormonal changes (like relaxin) and biomechanical strain during pregnancy.
• Main symptom: sharp pain right at the p***c bone, especially when walking, standing on one leg, or turning in bed.
• It’s essentially a subset of pelvic girdle problems, isolated to the p***c symphysis.

PGP (Pelvic Girdle Pain):
• A broader term that includes any pain in the joints of the pelvic ring, not just the p***c symphysis.
• Can involve the symphysis p***s, the sacroiliac joints (at the back of the pelvis), or both.
• Symptoms may be in the front, back, hips, buttocks, or even radiating to the thighs. 🤰💦. How can my classes help you? We do exercises to help these symptoms, deep breathing, pelvic tilts, glutes exercises and pelvic squeezes using the flow through the water to massage the body. If you’re struggling and got early symptoms please come and try a class ! Contact jan@aqua4baby.co.uk classes based in chelmsford Tuesday and Thursday nights.

🌸 Your Rights for Antenatal Classes and Work uk law
• Paid Time Off: If you’re an employee, you have the right to take reasonable paid time off during working hours for antenatal appointments (this includes midwife, GP, or hospital visits).
• Classes & Education: These rights also cover antenatal classes recommended by your doctor or midwife, not just medical check-ups.
• Partners’ Rights: Fathers or partners are entitled to take unpaid time off to attend two antenatal appointments with you.
• Proof of Appointments: Your employer can ask for proof of your first appointment, but not for every single one.
• No Penalty: You cannot be treated unfairly, refused time off, or dismissed for attending antenatal appointments. That would count as pregnancy discrimination.

👉 The key idea: Your health and your baby’s health come first. Work must make room for these essential appointments, and you’re protected by law when attending them. Remember if you work in London you can get you on board badge. 🤰me time is important for your mind, Health and wellbeing as your transform from an individual to and individual carrying a new person. It’s a fast 40 weeks of your life. 💦for a bit of me time with other mums to be coming to my classes Tuesday and Thursday nights starting next week, free trail for first night then Monthly payments £37 as I have listened and lots of mums to be asked for this for better budgeting reasons. #

The pregnant mums really benefited from tonight class, why I hear you say 🌊
Benefits of Being in Water During Pregnancy (Especially When It’s Hot)

1.

Temperature Regulation

Water helps your body cool down naturally and safely.
Prevents overheating, which is especially important during pregnancy (overheating can cause dizziness, nausea, or affect fetal development in extreme cases).
Keeps your core temperature stable, even when it’s scorching outside.

2.

Reduced Swelling (Edema)

The hydrostatic pressure of water helps shift excess fluid from your legs, feet, and hands back into your circulation.
Can significantly reduce puffiness, which tends to worsen in heat

3.

Eases Joint & Back Pain
Buoyancy supports your bump and takes pressure off your spine, pelvis, knees, and ankles.
Great for relieving sciatica, pelvic girdle pain (PGP), and general backache.

4.

Improves Circulation
Water naturally compresses the body, improving blood flow and reducing varicose vein discomfort.
Moving in water enhances lymphatic drainage, which reduces fatigue and heaviness in the limbs.

5.

Gentle, Safe Exercise
You can stretch, walk, float, or do full-body movements without strain.
Helps maintain fitness and muscle tone while protecting your joints.

6.

Mental Wellbeing & Relaxation

Being in water feels calming—like a mini sensory break from the weight of pregnancy and the heat.
Supports deep breathing and mental reset, which can lower stress levels and improve sleep.

7.

Weightlessness

For many, water is the only place they feel truly comfortable in later pregnancy.
Provides a sense of freedom of movement that’s hard to get on land. Fancy enjoying these benefits during your pregnancy journey look no further than Aqua4baby - spaces available for September 9th start or 11th payable.
