Whether your horse is competing, schooling, hacking, or enjoying a quieter time, massage can help support comfort, relaxation, and recovery.

Remaining February Availability
•Thursday 12th- 3:15pm, 3:30pm, 6pm
•Monday 16th- 3:15pm, 3:30pm, 17:30pm, 6pm
•Wednesday 25th- 3:15pm, 3:30pm, 17:30pm, 6pm

🚶🏽‍♂️‍➡️In-Hand Walk Polework🚶🏽‍♂️‍➡️
In-hand walk poles are a means of low impact work that offers beneficial work without the concussion of riding. You can use a single pole or set up a more complex exercise. Within the walk gait there is no moment of suspension, so the horse will need to stabilise their back whilst recruiting their core by lifting their legs, whereas at a trot or canter momentum is used.

Benefits:
➡️Physical Conditioning- core and back muscles are strengthened whilst also increasing range of motion within the joints and the spine.
➡️Improved proprioception + balance- helps to improve coordination and self carriage by teaching a horse where to put their feet.
➡️Rehabilitation + injury prevention- a means of controlled exercise for strengthening without the added weight of a rider.
➡️Mental stimulation- this type of work will mentally challenge your horse, encouraging them to think for themselves and adjust their body appropriately without any training aids.
➡️Straightness + symmetry- encourages equal weight distribution which corrects any crookedness/one sidedness.
➡️Joint health- gentle, low impact work such as this stimulates production of synovial fluid which encourages healthy movement by keeping the joints lubricated.

Success tips:
👌🏼Consistent use of these exercises offers maximum benefit in strength and flexibility.
👌🏼Setup 4-5 poles approx 3-3.5 feet apart for the walk.
👌🏼Vary the distance between poles to encourage stride lengthening/shortening. The height of the poles can also be varied to increase the effort needed.
