✨ Acupuncture & PMOS ✨

Many women with PMOS respond really well to regular acupuncture treatment. Acupuncture can help support the body naturally by regulating hormones and improving circulation to the reproductive organs.

Acupuncture may help with:
✔️ Regulating menstrual cycles
✔️ Supporting ovulation
✔️ Improving cycle length regularity
✔️ Reducing period pain
✔️ Supporting fertility naturally or alongside IVF
✔️ Helping manage stress and anxiety
✔️ Improving sleep and energy levels
✔️ Reducing symptoms such as bloating, headaches and PMS

Every woman’s experience with PMOS is different, which is why personalised treatment and support can make such a difference.

✨ If you’re struggling with irregular cycles, ovulation issues or other PMOS symptoms, acupuncture may be a gentle and supportive option to add to try.

Feel free to message me if you’d like to find out more about how acupuncture may help support your hormones, cycles and fertility journey 💛

As of today, PCOS has officially been renamed PMOS.

PMOS stands for:
✨ Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome ✨

Why the change?
For many years, the name “Polycystic O***y Syndrome” didn’t fully reflect what this condition actually involves. Many women with PCOS don’t have ovarian cysts, and the condition affects far more than just the ovaries.

The new name, PMOS, better recognises that this is:
✔️ A hormonal (endocrine) condition
✔️ A metabolic condition affecting insulin, weight and energy regulation
✔️ A condition that can affect ovulation, fertility, skin, mood and long-term health

This change aims to improve awareness, understanding, diagnosis and support for the millions of women living with PMOS worldwide. If you’ve previously been diagnosed with PCOS, your condition hasn’t changed, only the terminology used to better reflect the whole-body impact of this syndrome.

Every woman’s experience with PMOS can look different, which is why personalised support and treatment can make such a difference. Greater awareness and understanding of this condition is an important step towards helping women feel heard, supported and empowered in their health journey 💛

As Infertility Awareness Week comes to an end 🤍

Did you know that 1 in 6 people experience infertility at some point in their lives? It’s something that affects so many individuals and couples, yet for many it’s still something that’s not openly talked about. Raising awareness matters, because behind the statistics are real people, real stories, and real struggles.

As someone who has personally experienced secondary infertility, I understand just how emotional, overwhelming and isolating this journey can feel. It’s not just physical, it impacts every part of your life.

If you’re going through this and you’re based in Essex, I offer acupuncture at Foster Therapies to support you through your journey. Treatments are tailored to you, focusing on hormonal balance, reducing stress, and creating a calm, supportive space where you feel heard and understood.

You don’t have to go through it alone 🤍

✨ What is the “normal” length of a menstrual cycle? ✨

When we talk about the menstrual cycle, it isn’t just about your period – it’s a carefully balanced hormonal process made up of four phases:

🩸 Menstrual phase – bleeding begins
🌱 Follicular phase – hormones rise, follicles mature
🥚 Ovulation – an egg is released
🌙 Luteal phase – the body prepares for implantation

(Cycle phase lengths can vary – something I’ll cover in another post.)

📅 The average menstrual cycle length is around 28 days, but anything between 21–34 days is generally considered normal.

👉 Cycles that are 35 days or longer are classed as long cycles and can sometimes indicate delayed ovulation or anovulation and / or hormonal imbalance. This can impact egg quality, timing of ovulation and overall fertility.

💭 If you have long cycles, you’re not alone – and it’s something I see very regularly in clinic.

🌿 Through a course of acupuncture, I’ve supported many women whose cycles were 35–45+ days to gradually shorten and regulate.
✨ For the majority, cycles have reduced to around 28 / 29 days, which is often a much healthier rhythm for hormone balance, ovulation timing and fertility potential.

✔️ A more regular cycle
✔️ More predictable ovulation
✔️ Improved conditions for egg quality

💬 If this sounds like you, and something here resonates, acupuncture may be a gentle, natural way to support your body and bring your cycle back into balance.

📩 Feel free to message me, or book in to see how acupuncture could help support your cycle and fertility journey.

It’s about time I properly introduced myself 👋

I’ve been meaning to do this for a while, but life always seems to get in the way. So here’s a ‘short’ video sharing a bit about me, Foster Therapies, the services I provide, and why I’m so passionate about what I do.

Thank you for following along ✨

✨ Hello & Happy New Year ✨

I’ve been a pretty quiet on here over the last few months while I focused on courses, clinic work, family time, and the Christmas/New Year period.

I’ve been back in clinic since the 2nd of January and I’m now working an additional clinic day, which means I have more availability for appointments. If you’ve been thinking about getting in touch or booking in, please don’t hesitate to message me.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support - whether you’re a long-standing client or new here 🤍

I’m looking forward to what the year ahead brings.
