Rotational Angular Breathing for Scoliosis 🫁

With scoliosis, one side of the ribcage often collapses inward.

Rotational Angular Breathing (RAB) helps open that area by correcting posture first — pelvis set, elongation, upper + lower back alignment — and then directing breath into the collapsed side to expand it. 🌬️✨

💛 If your child wears a brace, they should also learn to do RAB inside the brace.

This helps the ribcage expand into the corrective space the brace creates, boosting comfort, symmetry and long-term results.

Every single Scoliosis case starts out small and, therefore, highly treatable. If we screened all children, we could prevent most (if not all) cases needing surgery. In the UK, there's no national screening program, even though it takes just minutes to do. Parents, grandparents - it's down to you! 💪

For many years, the approach to Scoliosis was "Watch and wait" - basically, just see if it gets worse. That made some sense when Surgery was the only option, but today it's a REALLY poor choice. This curve is still treatable, but it's going to be MUCH more work now. 😕

Treating Scoliosis without surgery

At the UK Scoliosis clinic, we focus on non-surgical treatment and management of Juvenile, Adolescent and Adult Scoliosis. In addition to the traditional exercise and physiotherapy-based approaches we offer the ground-breaking new ScoliBrace system. Developed in Australia, ScoliBrace is (in our professional opinion) the very best non-surgical treatment available for scoliosis.

Our clinic was founded to provide non-surgical treatment for scoliosis based on the latest research and with the SOSORT guidelines as our central principle. SOSORT stipulate that scoliosis treatment should be closely related to the size of a patient’s scoliotic curve and must be individualised for their personal needs – as such all our treatments are provided on a totally customised basis during one to one appointments.

While many treatments are offered for scoliosis, SOSORT stress that certain scoliosis treatments have not been endorsed as effective because of the lack of substantial evidence. For this reason, we provide only approaches which have been clinically proven to be effective.
