Hey everyone,

We have received some very valid and reasonable concerns regarding the running and coordination of the nominations, Q&As and the actual election.

Those of you who would like to help with the coordination or have inputs about the elections please direct message the page inbox and I can add you as a page editor and we can have a meeting. Your help is really appreciated.

With regards to the roles, these roles are the minimal requirements for establishing a society. The elected committee can then further this and open new roles within the committee (i.e social sec..) and allow nominations for them.

It would be really nice if all us participate as much as we possibly can since it’s a society for all of us and it will only work if we stand together.

Thank you

Mazi

Please find the following descriptions of roles within the committee:

President:

This role involves chairing and setting agenda on all medical society committee meetings (including any sub-society general meetings and the annual general meeting). You are there to help and advise all the various roles on committee. The bulk of the work comes from liaising with the medical school. You will help marketing and admin teams. You are required to give talks to prospective medical students at any of the open days and may be asked to say something to students during welcome week. You will attend numerous meetings throughout the year and have a seat on the staff-student committee meetings.

Vice-President:

Two main duties- the first is, to support and fill in for the President at events throughout the year, both academic and non- academic as well as helping with the coordination and organisation of events run by the various sub-societies within the medical society.

Secretary:

The bulk of the secretary's job is organising the
meetings; writing and printing agendas; writing up minutes, and dealing with a constant flow of emails from medical society members, committee and external contacts. The other important aspects are organising the medical society merchandise i.e. Jumpers. It's an important role, with a constant flow of activity.

Treasurer:

The treasurer minds the medical society accounts, controlling money flow through them and sending payments to the correct places.

Hello everyone, please find attached below the link to the survey monkey questionnaire where you will be able to write some of your opinions and also nominate yourself for one of the committee positions. There are a number of things to note. First is that the current committee positions are the basic positions that we need to start the society, however, we will, afterwards, be able to add on other roles depending on what everyone thinks is necessary. Also, I have written a brief description of what the roles and responsibilities of the positions are, I just thought it would be helpful for those of you who may want to run. Let's set a deadline for this Sunday and we can release the names of the people who have nominees on Monday. The nominees can then introduce themselves to the rest of the cohort and answer any questions during a Q&A session on Wednesday 24th October in the afternoon.
