👣 Why Do My Kids Get Warts? And What Can I Do To Help?
Warts are very common in children, and while they can look worrying, they’re usually harmless and treatable.
👉 Why do kids get warts?
Warts are caused by a virus called HPV that enters the skin through tiny cuts or breaks. Children are more likely to get them because their immune systems are still developing and they often walk barefoot in places like swimming pools, changing rooms, and sports halls where the virus can spread easily.
👉 Are warts contagious?
Yes, they can spread through direct skin contact or sharing items like towels, socks, or shoes.
👉 What can parents do to help?
✔ Encourage children to wear flip-flops or sandals in public changing areas
✔ Avoid picking or scratching warts (this can spread them)
✔ Keep the wart covered if possible
✔ Maintain good foot hygiene and keep feet clean and dry
👉 When should you see a podiatrist?
If the wart is painful, spreading, not improving, or affecting your child’s walking or confidence, professional treatment can help safely remove and manage it.
Our clinic offers safe and effective treatments tailored for children to keep their feet healthy and comfortable.
Get in touch if you’re concerned about your child’s foot health — we’re here to help.

My story to becoming a caring and devoted Foot Health Practitioner started a few years ago on my return to Cheltenham, my home town. I had been living and working for 10 years in a French ski resort with my husband and two daughters, running our own catered ski chalet. Participating in activities such as skiing, trekking and running I could see then the importance of looking after your feet. On my return to the UK, I continued my passion for running and started getting my feet looked after by Deborah Cross and her team at the Promenade Foot Clinic. After getting to know Debbie and her team, they planted the seed of an idea that this may be a perfect career choice for myself, 4 years later here I am qualified and working in the profession. After much dedication and commitment, I achieved a distinction in my exams and I am now working and achieving my goals. I now work alongside them as a member of the team working 2 days in the clinic and 3 days covering some of their outpatient appointments.
I finally feel I have a worthwhile career, my patients range from the very young to the elderly, dealing with a persistent verruca, a painful corn or simply trimming toenails all of what I do is important and necessary. Other treatments include, diabetic foot care, fungal nail infections and ingrowing/involuted toe nails.
I am self employed and offer appointments in the comfort of your own home (covering most of Gloucestershire) or at the Promenade Foot Clinic in Cheltenham. I also work at Badgeworth care home where I look after over 50 patients feet.
If you would like an appointment for yourself or an elderly relative, please do not hesitate to contact me.
