Lots of people have been asking what I’ve been doing to my skin lately as it’s so smooth and glowing.

Honestly I just thought it was a little tweak to my makeup, but then I remember I had a session of RF Microneedling about a month ago.

I’ve also have been religiously using the AlumierMD Everactive C and E and Retinol 0.25% every day in the run up to my treatment and after.

You see, when you partner good skincare with treatments, the results can be amazing. Think of it as a skincare sandwich, layering skincare on the surface, and having injectable or device based treatments to address the deeper layers.

Here’s my current skincare routine which you can lookup via my AlumierMD Shop on the link in the comments:

AM

Sensicalm cleanser
Everactive C and E
Eventone Serum
Ultimate Boost Serum
Clear Shield SPF 30

PM

Sensicalm Cleanser
Ultimate Boost Serum
AHA Renewal Serum (3 times a week)
Eventone Serum
Retinol 0.25%
Hydrarich Moisturiser

What actually happens to your skin after you tan?

What most people see as a sign of good health, is actually your skin crying out for help.

A tan is your body’s way of protecting itself from UV damage — and that colour change means inflammation and injury to your skin cells.

Yes we need some sun exposure to make vitamin D, but regular and intense tanning is so damaging. It’s all about balance.

Over time, repeated tanning speeds up ageing by breaking down collagen and elastin, leading to wrinkles, sagging, and pigmentation.

This is due to DNA damage in our skin cells, which not only ages us prematurely but is the trigger for skin cancers.

In short: a tan = sun damage, not health.

Think long term, and reach for the fake tan instead. You’ll spend less time and money in my clinic in later life trying to fix the damage.

What a beautiful glow and skin plumping result this patient has had. Profhilo is a bio-remodeller which uses hyaluronic acid to deeply hydrate, plump and reduce lines and skin folds.

The product is injected into specific areas of the face to restore contours and lift the face.

It spreads under the skin to support structures and gives the skin a beautiful glow.

Don’t like the feel of an SPF every day? Then you just haven’t found the right one. There is so much to choose from now in terms of formulations, textures and tints there really is no excuse to protect your skin from cancer and keeping you looking younger for longer.

The world of skincare is huge, so many choices, so many trends, but not always enough results. Here’s some common reasons your routine might not be working ⬇️

1. You’ve not been consistent with your routine- using the products as recommended is key. It can take several months to see results depending on your issue. It can feel like a drag, but persist and your skin will thank you

2. You’re not applying enough- this is a particular problem with SPF- you need a generous layer, every two hours to protect from burning, tanning, ageing, cancer and pigmentation.

3. You keep changing products and brands- again, consistency is key. You don’t have to use 100% the same brand for every product, but they are usually designed to work well together and not interact.

4. Overuse- lots of people say they can’t tolerate retinol or vitamin C. Both can be mildly or moderately irritating, but your skin should be able to tolerate these formulations if you build up your usage slowly.

5. Using the wrong cleanser- if you’re a rosacea or acne sufferer, using the right cleanser to keep a good skin barrier whilst removing make up, pollution, SPF and oils can be a difficult choice. If your skin barrier is disturbed this will hold you back in terms of being able to tolerate more ‘active’ products that are going to really give those amazing results.

6. Your products don’t contain a high enough concentration of active ingredients to be effective. Product labelling can be misleading, eg a common high street Retinol 1.5% is actually a combination of different ingredients, not a full 1.5% retinol (which would actually make your face fall off).

As a skincare professional I can take the guesswork away and come up with a skincare routine for you that will actually work.

If you’re struggling with your skin, why not take the first step and book a consultation?

Rosacea Myths vs Facts – Let’s Set the Record Straight

Rosacea can feel frustrating enough without all the misinformation floating around.

Let’s bust a few common myths.

🚫 Myth: Rosacea only affects fair skin.
✅ Fact: It can affect all skin tones — redness may just appear differently.

🚫 Myth: It’s caused by poor hygiene.
✅ Fact: Rosacea is an inflammatory condition, not the result of being “unclean.”

🚫 Myth: Skincare doesn’t make a difference.
✅ Fact: The right medical-grade skincare can soothe sensitivity, reduce redness, reduce flare-ups, and strengthen the skin barrier.

Your skin deserves truth, not myths.

If you’d like guidance on calming and caring for your rosacea-prone skin, send me a message.

You don’t need to hide your rosacea with green cream and layers of make-up when you can treat it.

We had a great result with this patient’s skin after several months of AlumierMD skincare and a single session of Advanced Electrolysis to cauterise some larger thread veins.

There’s no simple solution for Rosacea, it’s a complicated beast and needs a bespoke treatment plan which we often need to tweak as time goes on depending on your skin’s response.

Rosacea often has dietary and lifestyle triggers too so it needs a joined up approach to tackle it head on.

Keep following for more information this week on rosacea treatments and skincare that actually works.

I can’t claim to compete with surgical options such as a blepharoplasty or fat transfer for sagging eyelids or eye bags as the results can be very dramatic. Sometimes, this is the best option and I will refer on if I feel it’s the most appropriate option.

However, if you’re looking for a less invasive approach and natural look for this area, then injectable treatments and devices can still give impactful results. Here’s a few examples of treatments that I use regularly:

✅ Radiofrequency Microneedling- tightens the skin and reduces wrinkles, puffiness and dark circles

✅ Polynucleotides- injectable collagen stimulant

✅ Sunekos Performa- injectable treatment using a patented formulation of amino acids and hyaluronic acid to restore the skin around the eyes with increased structural collagen and hydration.

✅Skincare!! Often underestimated, but get on the good stuff and significantly changes can be made to the appearance and health of your skin. The AlumierMD Rejuvenating Eye Kit (available in clinic) is great on its own, but can have a synergistic action when partnered with in clinic treatments.

Curious about what would work for you? Send me a message to book a consultation initially and we can chat through some options.
