We’ve been told for so long that emotions only come from the brain, your heart actually has its own nervous system so complex it’s been called “the brain in the heart.” This system communicates directly with the brain in your head, and surprisingly, the heart sends more signals to the brain than the brain sends to it.The rhythm of your heart shifts based on how you feel. Emotions like anger, fear, or stress create jagged, chaotic heart patterns signalling the brain that something’s wrong. But emotions like love, appreciation, and compassion produce smooth, steady rhythms letting your brain and body know you’re safe and in balance. This deep connection between heart, brain, and body also explains why things like visualisation and affirmations actually work. Neuroscience calls it “neural plasticity” the idea that your brain is constantly being shaped by your thoughts. Every time you visualise or repeat a positive affirmation, your brain literally rewires itself building stronger connections between neurons. Thoughts leave physical traces in your brain just like footprints in the sand. Over time, you’re not just thinking differently you’re becoming different. So when we align the heart and mind, shift our emotional state, and feed our brain intentional thoughts we’re not just changing how we feel. We’re changing who we are. Mind creates matter. And healing starts from within.
