This is just one reason why people need to think carefully before signing up for a direct cremation.

Following a Mail Drop in Wadebridge yesterday, by Pure Cremation, I thought I should give you all a little information about how much more expensive they are, compared to us, as I feel not everyone would realise this.

At R J Bray & Son, our fee, for a direct cremation, which would take place here in Cornwall, is £1160. (We do not charge anything extra, for example, if you wish to see your loved one in our Chapel of Rest, or if they pass away outside of office hours or at home).

If you wanted to plan ahead, you could take out a funeral plan with us, where the plan provider adds a one off admin fee of £325, making a total of £1485.

From the screenshot here, you will see that Pure Cremation’s fee for the Cremation/Funeral Plan option is £1995, and your loved one would be taken to their crematorium in Andover. 

We would be grateful if you could share this post please, as small family Funeral Directors, like ourselves, cannot afford the millions of pounds spent on advertising by this national company.

Having wanted to become a funeral celebrant for many years (Janette Ivy Hampshire you might remember a few conversations about this!), I finally qualified earlier this year. Since then, I have had the privilege of creating and delivering several services - and it really is a privilege.
