I’ve noticed more people talking not just about taking GLP-1 medication, but about having a plan alongside it — and a Harvard Health Publishing article by Matthew Solan (reviewed by Dr Caroline Apovian) really nailed why.
The idea is simple: when you lose weight, you don’t just lose fat — you can lose muscle too, especially if the loss is fast. That has real consequences for strength, everyday function, and keeping the weight off over time.
The article lays out a clear 3-part strategy:
➡️ Resistance training to give your muscles a “stay” signal in a deficit
➡️ Enough protein, spread across the day, to support muscle repair/retention
➡️ A steadier pace — not “as fast as possible” — to reduce unnecessary lean mass loss
On my own Mounjaro journey, eating less has become easier… but staying strong while losing has still needed effort and a plan.
