🌞 Garden Picnic with a Purpose! 🧺🌿

Today, our residents enjoyed a lovely picnic in the garden, soaking up the sunshine and fresh air under our colorful umbrellas. The weather was just perfect — warm, bright, and full of cheer!

Activities like these are more than just a nice day out. They offer real benefits for people living with dementia:

🌼 Boosting Mood: Being outdoors and connecting with nature helps reduce anxiety, agitation, and feelings of isolation.

🧠 Stimulating the Senses: The smell of flowers, the taste of picnic treats, the sound of birds — all help spark memories and stimulate the brain.

👥 Encouraging Social Interaction: Shared experiences like this create moments of joy and connection between residents and staff.

🪑 Promoting Movement: Even gentle walking or sitting up to enjoy the scenery supports physical well-being.

Today’s picnic brought plenty of smiles, laughter, and a sense of calm. It’s these small, meaningful moments that make a big difference 💛

🌟 Word of the Day: Courage 🌟

At St Anne’s Nursing Home, we’re reminded every day that courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes, it’s the quiet strength of our residents trying something new, sharing a memory, or simply getting up and facing the day with a smile.

Whether it’s taking part in an activity, expressing a feeling, or holding someone’s hand — courage lives in the little moments. 💛

Let’s take a moment today to honour the bravery in everyday life. 🕊️

Word For Today .....“Comfort”

🌼 Meaning: A state of physical ease and freedom from pain or worry.

🌼 Why it matters today: For someone living with dementia, feeling safe, understood, and comforted can make a big difference in their day. Whether it’s a soft blanket, a calming voice, or a familiar song—comfort helps them feel at peace.

🌼 Conversation or activity idea:

“What brings you comfort?”

Offer a hand massage, soft music, or a warm drink while talking about comforting memories (like mum’s cooking, a favorite chair, or a family pet).

🧠 Word of the Day: "Sunshine" ☀️
What does it mean?
Sunshine is the light and warmth that comes from the sun. It can also mean happiness or a cheerful person!

Let’s think and talk about it:

How does sunshine make you feel?

Do you remember a sunny day you enjoyed?

Have you ever been called someone’s “sunshine”?

Activity idea:
Look out the window or sit near some natural light. Put on a song about sunshine (like You Are My Sunshine) and sing or hum along!
