If your body has been feeling stiff, achy, or just tired from the business of life, this class is for you.

Every Tuesday at 11am at Chepstow Yoga Space (NP16 5DD), we hold a gentle, beginner-friendly yoga class designed to:

✔ Release tightness in your back, shoulders, and joints
✔ Build core strength and support healthy posture

Why Your Yoga Mat is the Best Place to Start When Life Presses In

A few days ago I was chatting with a couple over 55, who mentioned how overwhelmed they felt by issues around their health.
It reminded me of a time when I, too, was weighed down by everything pressing in at once.

Here’s the thing: when overwhelm takes over, the best thing you can do is simple.
- Roll out your yoga mat.
- Don’t overthink it.
- Just step on, move gently, and let your body guide you.

Within minutes, something shifts.
Your mind begins to clear.
The problems don’t disappear, but you see them differently.

Suddenly, what felt impossible feels lighter, and you can sense what truly matters.

Energy flows where attention goes…
Have you noticed how what you focus on seems to grow?

When we pour our attention into stress, aches, or worries, they expand. But when we gently shift our focus to the breath, to the body, to the present moment…something magical happens.

In yoga, we use movement, breath, and stillness to guide our attention. And little by little, the energy in the body starts to flow more freely. That’s when the tight shoulders soften, the busy mind quiets, and you feel more yourself again.

Next time you’re on the mat (or even just sitting at your desk), try this:
- close your eyes, place your hand on your heart,
- and notice your breath for a minute.
Feel how just that tiny shift in attention changes your whole energy.

Today is Yoga in Chepstow Yoga Space, NP16 5DD at 11am 🧘‍♀️

If you’ve been thinking, “I could really use a stretch, some calm, and a moment just for me”.....this is your nudge.

This week, in Siân Rule Yoga's Friday class we'll be celebrating Lammas, the first harvest of wheat for bread and beer.

We'll take it slowly and get the whole body moving with a gentle sequence and have a focus on the hips.

In our breathing technique we'll take the next gentle step from our previous 4 week focus.

We'll ground our energies and help them to cross over so we're more balanced, centred and connected.

A beautiful relaxation completes the session with a visualisation of healing light.

After our week's break I'm so looking forward to seeing lovely familiar faces and some new ones too!

In Mindful Yoga this week we're deepening our relationship with our breath, or prana.

One definition of a yogi is someone who keeps prana in their body.

So first and most importantly we practice noticing if we ARE actually breathing!
It can be interesting to notice how often that we're not!
Secondly notice if you're breathing through your nostrils.
Thirdly breathe as smoothly as possible.

If you'd like to improve how you breathe, if you'd like your mind to be calmer or feel more relaxed, come and try a class.

Breathing well helps our health in so many ways.

This week we're beginning a focus on meditation in Siân Rule Yoga Classes.

Meditation has numerous benefits.
Here are some:

> lowers blood pressure,
> lowers risk of heart disease or stroke
> helps regulate the nervous system
> improves our learning, memory and emotion regulation
> improves decision making
> increase a sense of inner peace and connection with other living beings.

Would you like any of those improvements?

Often we make it difficult by telling ourselves we can't meditate, that our minds are too busy.

However, that's a normal human mind!

In class we're exploring different ways of calming the busy mind.

Starting with getting comfortable.

This week we're doing short guided meditations on the breath, a walking meditation and massaging the feet to prepare them.

Not just for yoga but for any walking.

Yesterday (Thursday 15th May) marks the beginning of a 107km sponsored walk to raise funds for Medical Aid for Palestinians.
