Lucy Fear Massage & Wellbeing.

Lucy Fear Massage & Wellbeing. Advanced Massage Therapist based in Chepstow, S Wales. (Maitri School of Craniosacral Therapy 2007). Male and female clients. Can do home visits.

I offer treatment for a wide variety of conditions and free consultations. Feel free to enquire further info I was inspired to complete my Advanced Diploma in Massage Therapy when my mum was diagnosed with cancer many years ago and I really wanted to help alleviate her lymph oedema. I was also working with disabled children at the time and soon realised that massage could hugely benefit their mobility and associated symptoms. Since qualifying in 2007 at the Maitri School of Cranial Sacral Therapy in Stroud, I have treated a number of people, young, and old, male and female with various symptoms and conditions. These have included stress relief, ibs, asthma, cancer and much more. I get great pleasure from treating my clients and seeing the benefits and value it had brought to their lives and conditions. My treatments are largely based on Swedish principles, however, I use various techniques to suit a course of treatment that is tailor made to an individual's needs. I continue to learn and study techniques to benefit each client and their condition, to give them a client centred treatment.

Just wanted to alert my clients that due to significant cost increases in order to run my clinic, there will be a slight increase to your treatments costs. This not only covers my time, it also covers any increase in rent, memberships, insurance and products required to successfully work as a therapist in Wales. These always increase and it's always difficult balancing these costs. I always do my best to be fair.

If you are genuinely struggling to finance your sessions, please do reach out to me. There are always options and I'm happy to discuss those with you.

It’s that time of year again when I celebrate another alcohol-free lap around the sun.
But this isn’t a brag, and it’s not a self-righteous post either.
It’s my annual check-in — a moment that keeps me accountable and reminds me just how far I’ve come.

Every November, I think back to why I chose to give up alcohol. I was still active, fit, and running a successful clinic, but alcohol had stopped serving me. Something incredible happens when you stop drinking — to your mind, your body, and to the relationship you have with yourself and the people who truly matter.

I’m heading into my seventh year now. Life has been unbearably hard at times, but I know it would have been far worse if alcohol was still part of it.

I don’t miss it. I’m not pulled to it.
And that? That feels completely liberating.

✨ Small Group Massage Teaching Session

Yesterday, I had the privilege of working with a small group of students learning the fundamentals of massage.
There’s something really special about learning in a small, calm space — where you can slow down, ask questions, and truly feel the techniques.

In yesterday’s teaching session, we spent time exploring simple, nurturing massage skills that help deepen knowledge, support relaxation, and bring a little more ease into everyday life.

Our massage courses at Wye Valley Wellness offer gentle guidance, real hands-on learning, and in small intimate groups.

Oh, and cake...there's always tea and cake!

Earlier, I came across an old visitors book of mine from when I first opened my Tintern practice.
I'd forgotten about this particular message but I remember now how it made me feel at the time I first read it.
The person who wrote this didn't have a treatment with me but sat in the session whilst someone close to her received treatment in the same room.

I'm glad that the benefits of my sessions go beyond just 'what I do' and extend to how I make people feel when they enter my space.
The Wye Valley Wellness Centre is quite a special place and it's location makes it the perfect venue for healing.
I'm delighted that I'm able to share that with many of you.

When I began my massage therapy training, the focus was firmly grounded in evidence-based practice, where client responses and therapeutic outcomes were explained through established scientific mechanisms. This foundation continues to guide much of my clinical approach.

However, with nearly two decades of hands-on experience—working directly with the musculoskeletal and neuromyofascial systems—I have also observed responses that are not always fully accounted for within conventional models.

The efficacy of massage has been widely debated, with some arguing that it provides limited benefit in treating specific conditions without additional therapeutic intervention. Yet emerging and ongoing research increasingly demonstrates that massage can play a meaningful role in treatment plans. Current evidence highlights the complex interplay between touch and the body’s physical, emotional, and neurological processes, including modulation of the autonomic nervous system, pain perception, and stress-related biomarkers.

This article in the is a beneficial read, especially when discussing issues such as chronic pain.

Our Story

After studying Sociology at Gloucestershire University and gaining an Honours Degree I have worked both in the Disability and Education sector, primarily with children and their families. In 2007, I completed an Advanced Massage Diploma at the Maitri Foundation of Cranial Sacral Therapy which took a couple of years of the study of anatomy, physiology and pathology in order to have the understanding and skills required in order to treat a wide number of complaints through massage. Until recently, massage was my second 'job' to education and I worked as a mobile therapist, visiting clients in their own homes and 'pop up' clinics in the locality. Due to family circumstances, and an opportunity to have the use of a permanent treatment room in St Mary's Arcade, Chepstow, I made the decision in September 2016 to devote my time solely to my therapies. I have since continued my educational development by becoming certified in a number of further therapies that complement my existing qualification. Becoming a medically certified Rock Doc in January 2017 has allowed me to be involved in a number of prestigious sporting events as a medical practitioner across the UK.

I offer a highly qualified multi disciplinary approach to my treatments which provide fully prescriptive plans to suit each client's specific needs. Each consultation will include a posture, mobility and medical history assessment followed by a mutually agreed treatment plan which may focus of a number of disciplines including Remedial, Swedish, Sports, Shiatsu, Acupressure and Thai Yoga Massage, Manual Therapy and Soft Tissue work as well as techniques such as Myofascial Cupping and Rock Doc medical practice. All treatments can be offered as part of your prescriptive treatment plan or as a stand alone treatments.

I take great pride in my work and am able to see clients of all ages, men and women including babies and pregnant ladies. I have an advanced DBS disclosure and am fully insured. I endeavour to ensure that my therapies are accessible to those that need it most, and therefore like to maintain close links with the community and ensure that my prices are competitive. I offer discounts to public sector workers including teachers, NHS staff, Emergency Services and the Military.
