The PDA Clinic

The PDA Clinic Welcome to The PDA Clinic. PDA stands for Pathological Demand Avoidance, it classed as a subsection of autism. However, we can help.

Sadly though, getting a diagnosis of PDA is a postcode lottery, depending on your LA. See our 'Services' tab for details.

We are currently raising funds for 'Autism Ukraine'.
We believe that a lot of disabled people, including those on the spectrum and those with learning difficulties are being left behind in the refugee crisis.

Hopefully together, we can make a difference to someone who is struggling to leave.

Many thanks 🇺🇦

The very first 'rule' of being a PDA parent is to develop an extremely thick skin, as quickly as possible.

If it's thick already, then it'll need to be thicker.

Chances are, some of the insults you are going to receive will rock you to your core, but you cannot show one jot of emotion in your facial expression, body language or even your aura.

This however, could be your downfall in meetings with the authorities, as the professionals will think you're either cold as ice, or can handle everything anyway, so don't need any support.

Hiya! Hope you're all enjoying your Sunday.

I thought I would check in with you all, to let you know that although it appears to be quiet, we are still working away behind the scenes, like a swan swiming on water.

We are connecting with our PDA peers, whether they be fellow parents or professionals. Our aim has never been to make money or be a competitor to other professionals, rather to create a holistic approach for families. This is so that any individuals who seek our help can be directed to the right people.

If you are a professional or a parent with skills to offer, please give us a shout, we would love to hear from you.

It's gone a bit quiet on here, bear with us. We are working away like swans on the water.

This whole project will not be built overnight, in fact it will take years, as we want to get it 100% right and we do have our own simultaneous 'battles' going on.

At the moment, our biggest problem going forward, is that we don't have any autistic people onboard, which will only be temporary. Our ethos is that no autism clinic, should exist without autistic input from the top levels.

That said, in the meantime, if we think we can help somebody who approaches us who has exhausted all other angles unsuccessfully, maybe due to funding issues of their own, then we will endeavour to help in any way that we can.

So please feel free to contact us.

Although this is a video aimed at professionals, it is also really helpful for parents to watch. A lot of parents are sadly not listened to by many professionals and misunderstood; so to see that there are many professionals who not only understand, but are actively raising awareness and improving the lives of many PDAers and their families is simply brilliant.

It is also a very good resource to show your doubting social worker, school staff, doctor etc etc. because as most parents already know, professionals listen more to other professionals.

This is one of two videos created for PDA Day 2021 that share best practice about PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) for professionals from all sectors incl...

Today we are talking about passive early history.

What is your experience, if you are a PDAer, were you excessively passive as a child or even mildly passive and if so, up to what age? Similarly, if you're a PDA parent, how did your child present before age 5?
