Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals are excited to announce that we are working with Deep Medical Ltd, a healthcare partner, to improve our outpatient services.
Deep Medical's technology aims to reduce the number of patients who do not attend their appointments through tailored messaging and reminders and are also supporting teams to fill clinic slots that have been cancelled at short notice. This technology will help to ensure that as many appointment slots are filled, improving our efficiency and reducing waiting times for patients.
We're proud to share that Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals has led Surrey’s first expansion of paediatric critical care, bringing Level 2 high dependency care closer to home for local children and families.
The pilot has reduced the need for transfers to London, supported children with complex needs in their community. This has not only freed up regional intensive care capacity for other critically ill patients, but also ensured families could remain near their support networks.
With plans to expand the service further, this marks an important step toward a more resilient, family-centred model of care for young patients across Surrey.
Cases of invasive meningococcal disease have been confirmed in Kent. Sadly, 2 people are known to have died. It's important to know the signs of symptoms of meningitis and septicaemia. Get more info from NHS.

Proud news from Ashford and St Peter’s and Royal Surrey 👇
We’re delighted to share our Group Chief Executive Louise Stead will be joining an expert taskforce to improve maternity services across the country.
Chaired by Health and Social Care Secretary Wes Streeting, the group is tasked with implementing the recommendations of an independent national investigation, led by Baroness Amos, into NHS maternity services as soon as they are published.
The 17-member taskforce brings together families, senior NHS leaders, royal college representatives, campaigners and academics.
Louise’s expertise was sought after leading Ashford and St Peter’s Maternity Services ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission and Royal Surrey’s Maternity Department to be rated ‘Outstanding.
Louise said: “It is an honour to join the national Maternity and Neonatal Taskforce and play a role in driving improvement across all maternity services.
“There are examples of excellent maternity and neonatal practice across our group every day and our teams work incredibly hard to deliver safe, compassionate care. However, we know there is always more we can do locally and nationally and sharing best practice to drive high quality, equitable care for all women and their babies is essential.”
We're incredibly proud of Louise and look forward to seeing the difference this taskforce will make for families across the country.
From 1 April 2026, NHS Surrey Heartlands and NHS Sussex Integrated Care Boards will be merging to form NHS Surrey and Sussex.
This account will no longer be in use after that time - please follow NHS Sussex to stay up-to-date with our work as NHS Surrey and Sussex.

Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the largest provider of acute hospital services in Surrey and serves a population of around 415,000 people across North West Surrey and parts of Hounslow.
We provide a whole range of services across our two hospital sites - Ashford Hospital, Middlesex and St Peter's Hospital in Chertsey.
The majority of planned care, like day case and orthopaedic surgery and rehabilitation services, is provided at Ashford, with more complex medical and surgical care and emergency services at St Peter's. Both hospitals provide a wide range of outpatient clinics.
Our specialist services include orthopaedics, cardiology, vascular services, bariatric surgery and neo-natal intensive care. The Trust works hard to ensure quality remains our top priority and we have been rated overall as 'Good' by the Care Quality
Commission, following a full inspection of our hospitals in December 2014 and follow up inspection in February 2017 - great news for local patients.
The Trust has been nominated as a top 40 hospital by CHKS (a national provider of healthcare intelligence) based on a number of important quality and safety indicators for five years running. We have also recently been reported as one of the top performing hospitals nationally for hip fracture care and have seen much improved results in the latest NHS Staff Survey.
See our website at www.asph.nhs.uk for more details on our services and the Trust.
