Every Wednesday morning from 10–12 our Community Outreach Manager, Leanne, spends time with the wonderful Knit & Natter group at the community hub at Buckinghamshire New University, and it’s honestly one of the highlights of her week.
Just look at the incredible hats, cardigans and tiny knitted items in this photo. Every single one has been hand-made for babies in the neonatal ward. The time, care and kindness that goes into these pieces is extraordinary, they are quite literally made with love.
What we love just as much is the community in the room. The laughter, the encouragement, the quiet concentration… and the huge sense of pride when another little hat or cardigan is finished. It’s a beautiful reminder of what happens when people come together to do something kind for others.
The group is run by the brilliant Maria Butler from CPJ Field, and it’s such a welcoming space. They are a beautiful bunch, who have even started teaching Leanne how to knit… although she is very much still at the beginner stage! 🧶
If you’re free on a Wednesday morning, do come along; there’s tea, conversation, creativity, and you can even stay for bingo afterwards.
Proof that sometimes the simplest things; a ball of wool, a chat, and a community, can create something truly meaningful.
