Society puts too much emphasise on how we look and what we wear. On the jobs we have and the people we hand out with. But why does any of that matter? Why is the external valued more than internal? Even when others don't see it, take time today to reflect on how you can start valuing yourself and your internal characteristics and qualities. You are more than any number. You are defined by your heart, strength and resilience - all the things that keep you fighting for your . Stay strong beautiful one and keep believing in yourself.

I wish someone had told me earlier how important it would be to find a community of like minded people to help in my recovery from . Finding a group of people who understood the internal battle, the conflict and knew it wasn't simply a case of not wanting to eat, was a game changer for me. Being with people who "get it" and who can share lived experiences with without worrying about being judged is a vital part of recovery. None of us have to do it alone and we all deserve connection to help with our recovery.

My new online support group for # is coming soon as well as an in-person support group in , Bucks. If you are interested in joining either or just want some useful resources to explore holistic tools in your recovery check out my website.

For a long time I believed that I needed to battle anorexia by myself, after all it was my fault I was sick and if I couldn’t help myself why and how could anyone else care enough to help. Finding the right therapist was the first step in r that maybe I didn’t need to go it alone on my journey but what I’ve found most helpful over the years is support from other people with lived experiences with eating disorders; people who really get it. Over the years I’ve found fantastic support groups and have had the privilege of being part of a weekly zoom connection call for the past 6 years. So now I’m in a position to do so, I’m offering a weekly group call. It doesn’t matter what stage of recovery you are at, you might even be still contemplating if it’s what you really want or if it’s really possible, you are still welcome. Calls will start July 6th with an in-person group beginning in shortly after. To register your interest or get more information see the link in my bio.

I battled anorexia from I was 18 years old. Now, at 48, I’m happy to say I am living what I call “My Recovered Life”. I tried every type of therapeutic approach possible, and it wasn’t until I was introduced to and in 2017 that I really began to feel that recovery was possible. Alongside these practices, finding a was a vital part of my journey and so I’ve decided to create a website full of free resources and an on-line support group for anyone interested in recovery, whether you are already on the path or just contemplating it.

I will be launching a weekly on-line eating disorder support group beginning 6th July 2026 and have plans to have a monthly, in-person, support group in Chesham, Buckinghamshire shortly after that. I also have a new Facebook chat group up and running, if you’d like to join the link is in my bio.

Why not have a look at the website now, who knows what gems you might find that could help you on your recovery journey.

I guess before answering this journal prompt it might be interesting in defining what community means to you? Is it the local area where you live? Is it a particular group or people you feel connected to? Is it a local club or group? Community can exist wherever we want it to. For me it's about the connection and most of that , which is what I am grateful for, comes from my yoga community. Not just the teachers and other students in the classes but also the connections across the world that has opened up for me. My community helps me through the tough days but also allows me to celebrate the good ones as well. How about you, what is something you are grateful for in your community?
