I’ve been taking cold showers for years now,
Not because I can’t afford the water bill 🤣 but because I read the Iceman Wim Hof’s book 🥶… one of the many benefits is you can put voluntarily put yourself into ‘fight or flight’ which up until recently people assumed was not possible as it was a parasympathetic response only.

However I never got an opportunity to put this into practice in the real world until recently when I done the Spartan Beast race. For the past 2 months I’ve been suffering from cervical vertigo from an old neck injury. When it happened (daily) I was losing my balance and having difficulty focusing on something as my head would spin and I’d lose my equilibrium.

I shouldn’t have done the race & it kicked in around 30 mins in and lasted right up until I got to the cold water swim, around 90-120 mins in.

I thought I wouldn’t be able to complete the race- that is until I hit the cold water. The fight or flight kicked in, my brain must have thought I was fighting for my life and as soon as I got out the other side the vertigo had gone. It stayed ‘gone’ for the rest of the race and I finished it really strong…. So instead of continuing this long winded post I’ll finish with:

STOP BEING A P***Y & EMBRACE THE COLD!

3-6 minutes daily at 9 degrees Celsius is all you need to do. Start slowly, it’s not a race you don’t have to be able to do it overnight but your health will thank you 1 day 💪🏻😊💯

f you are into Longevity training here’s a challenge for you:

Carry half your body weight in each arm and Do a farmers walk for 2 minutes. It’s not easy (that’s an understatement 🤣) so it will take some time to be able to do it.

Longevity training isn’t about extending your life span, it’s about improving your health span for the duration of your life.

One of the main focus points is Grip strength, which is vital to retain once you hit the twilight years.

Farmers walks not only work your core stability but they are, for me anyway, the number 1 grip strength exercise.

Give it a go but don’t say I didn’t warn you, half your body weight per arm is HARD 🙈…. It’s considered ELITE strength.
