On Sunday I had entered for the RideLondon 100 mile bike ride and was very close to pulling the plug, thinking there was no way I would complete it in my time. However, with nothing to lose I gave it a go and did it.
(I have a habit of saying yes to a challenge without putting much thought into it, I also have a habit of forgetting about it until too close to the time!!)
It was a brilliant day. Roads are closed off and completely traffic free for the entire 100-mile route (there are also 30- and 60-mile options). Having previously done the London to Brighton bike ride I found this far more enjoyable having to navigate no cars on the entire journey.
So, the point of this post is to never underestimate what you and your body can do. If you like riding a bike this is a brilliant challenge. There were 22,500 people in total who took part in the 3 challenges and the organisation was superb. Cannot praise the volunteers enough who are on hand along the route and the amazing people who took time out of their day to cheer and support everyone along the way.
So, go on, set yourself a challenge doesn’t matter how small, 1 mile to 100, you can do it x
