Today is International Women’s Day.

As we do every year, GMB is once again supporting International Women’s Day. This year’s theme is

Based on data from the World Economic Forum it will take until 2158 to achieve Gender Equality - this is 5 generations away!

This day is a call to recognise the work done to make progress for all women, globally and also
emphasises the importance of taking swift and decisive steps to achieve gender equality.

We must work together to address the barriers and biases faced by women in both their personal and professional spaces.

GMB is constantly working on women’s issues via Women's Conference and has recently published the GMB Menopause Toolkit and held webinars on Sexual Harassment.

In 2025, GMB continues its fight for women’s equality in and out of the workplace, not least in
Asda where our fight for equal pay for women-dominated roles continues.

As Gloria Steinem once said: "The story of women's struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights."
