In honour of National Heritage Week, resident Cathy Wright (87) visited a local National Trust site today. We visited Washington Old Hall circa 1700. A magnificent building set in beautiful gardens. With direct connections to former President of the USA George Washington.
Cathy couldn't believe how old the building was and loved looking around it. Unfortunately the weather wasn't too kind so we didn't get to see the gardens in all their splendour. But Cathy, always up for an adventure, did manage to climb the beautiful, solid oak staircase. Even though the newel post was bigger than her !!!
We went to another old building for lunch, The Forge, and enjoyed a splendid helping of fish and chips in front of a roaring, real fire.
Cathy enjoyed our little trip and is looking forward to our next mini adventure.

It's been such a beautiful day today, resident Maria requested going for a walk. So off we went on a nature trail. Maria was thrilled to find lots of interesting things on our walk. From blackberries to plums, conkers, and flowers. Maria loves the gardens at Pelton Grange and made such a lovely display with her treasures.

Residents were treated to a special concert today. Provided by the NASUWT CONCERT BRASS BAND.
As part of the Durham Brass Festival, we were extremely honoured to have the band visit us in our home. They were accompanied by the Cultural Engagement Officer from Durham Council, and photographers from the press.
Residents thoroughly enjoyed the concert and even took part in conducting the orchestra, and trying the instruments themselves.
Pelton Grange would like to offer our sincere gratitude for being part of this festival.

Residents enjoyed a wonderful morning hearing about the local history of Pelton. This evoked beautiful memories of times gone by. Residents also enjoyed a sing along. Special thanks to Sandra Pearce for all of her research and for visiting us today.

Pelton grange would like to say a massive Thankyou to our maintenance man Barry who is team member of the month nominated by his colleagues. Barry goes above and beyond on a daily basis not only for Pelton Grange but supports our region also.

Residents tried their best to be gentle on International Nurses Day.
Bandages a plenty as we practiced wound dressing on each other. Residents even made their own nurses hats for the occasion.
