VE Day:
Friday was VE day at Oaklands and we couldn't have asked for a better day! With fantastic sandwiches, scrumptious scones and great company it was a fantastic day celebrating such an important event in European and world history especially when paired with an amazing visit from the Lord Mayor of Chester herself!
We started the afternoon off with some afternoon tea and a visit from the Lord Mayor which we hoped you all enjoyed and then ended our afternoon with Andy singing for us, starting with some classic feelgood party songs like Sweet Caroline before singing more VE associated songs like Vera Lynn's "We'll meet again"!!
We did have to make a bit of a mad dash at the was as it attempted to rain on our parade, but thankfully we all got it in dry and the sun decided to come back out for an encore just in time too for an extra amazing end of the day! And that extra amazing end was The Lions presenting our activities department with a cheque of a £1000, with the money going towards all sorts of amazing future activities for our residents that we won't spoil here!
We hope everyone who attended had an amazing time with us on VE day and thank you for coming!
