This is a great article about colour at birth and cord clamping Xx
❕❗️❕The color of birth❕❗️❕
Sometimes it takes a few minutes for babies to transition from in utero to spontaneous breathing at birth.
❗️
Often they are born purple or blue. The blood in the placenta and cord continues to transfer to baby while they transition and begin to breathe.
❗️
Then they begin to turn pinker as normal breathing is established, usually within the first minute.
❗️
All of this is totally normal. Provide gentle stimulation and place a warm towel and hat on baby.
❗️
What is vitally important is that the cord is left intact and NOT CLAMPED
❗️
DO NOT prematurely cut the cord. It will help babies to transition - the blood provides volume to perfuse the vital organs, the brain, heart, kidneys and lungs.
❗️
Plus stem cells and lots of iron.
