Over exposure to UV rays from the sun can damage your skin and lead to skin cancer.
Regardless of your skin colour or tone, you need to protect your skin by using sunscreen when the UV index is 3 or more, even if it is cool or cloudy 🌥️

Applying sunscreen regularly will help protect your skin from harmful UV rays, reduce your risk of skin cancer and prevent premature aging.

Insulin resistance occurs when body cells do not respond properly to insulin, causing blood sugar levels to rise, often leading to prediabetes or Type 2 diabetes. The NHS focuses on managing this through weight loss, a healthy diet, and at least 150 minutes of moderate activity weekly, as it is largely linked to obesity.

What it is: Cells resist insulin, causing the pancreas to produce more, eventually leading to high blood glucose (hyperglycaemia).

Causes/Risk Factors: Primarily associated with being overweight or obese, particularly with a high waist circumference, and a sedentary lifestyle.

Conditions Linked: It is a key factor in developing Type 2 diabetes, polycystic o***y syndrome (PCOS), and fatty liver disease.

Symptoms: Generally none in early stages, but can include fatigue, increased hunger, and dark skin patches (acanthosis nigricans). Severe cases might involve hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar) symptoms like dizziness or shakiness.

Babies under 12 months don’t need snacks - milk feeds are enough to keep them satisfied between meals.
From 12 months, you can start offering 2 healthy snacks a day, like fruit and plain yoghurt.
Try to avoid shop-bought biscuits, rusks, and packaged “baby snacks”, they’re often high in sugar and not needed. Keep it simple and natural 💛
