Understanding Male infertility is a significant part of men’s health, which is often overlooked. The impact of infertility on those with male reproductive organs can be significant to both physical and mental wellbeing.

Taking the steps to seek medical support can be intimidating. Whatever your reason for seeking fertility care, understanding the process can help to make getting support on your journey easier to manage.

At IVI our specialists provide a fertility assessment which allows insight into the cause of male fertility issues. A fertility assessment involves a semen analysis, otherwise known as a seminogram. During a semen analysis, a semen sample is analyzed to establish the s***m count (the number of s***m present), s***m motility (how the s***m move) and s***m morphology (the shape of the s***m).

In some cases, s***m quality is affected by certain lifestyle factors, such as drinking alcohol, smoking or being overweight. One of our expert fertility consultants at IVI UK can discuss your results with you and advise whether changing lifestyle habits could increase your potential to conceive.

Understanding your own fertility can expand the options for your future reproductive health, whether that means trying to conceive, or preserving your fertility.

If you’re beginning your fertility journey and trying to start a family, PGT-A might be something you’ve never heard of before.

PGTA (Pre-Implantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy), formerly known as PGS (Pre-Implantation Genetic Screening) can be combined with IVF treatment to detect chromosomal abnormalities in embryos.

It is often recommended for specific patient groups who are at higher risk of miscarriage or have had recurring unsuccessful IVF cycles.

Fertility myths and facts: Menopause only occurs at an advanced age

Fact: Although most women experience menopause between the ages of 45 and 55 years, there is a significant percentage of women who experience the symptoms of menopause naturally in their 40s. This is known as early or premature menopause. This affects approximately 5% of the population before the age of 45. Early menopause can also take place as a result of chemotherapy.
