In our third week of advent we enjoyed Christmas songs and Christmas card swap with a local school, residents got involved with a festive movement & music session, a visit with the owls and cake decorating, some live singing and a lot of festive cheer in between!

Today, we had the long-awaited inter home Christmas cake competition. The cakes were a joint effort with both residents and staff involved.

With having so many competitive people involved, we turned to the lovely customers in the Gift Cafe to judge the cakes. We approached four customers, none of whom had any idea which home prepared which cakes.

The inebriated father Christmas brought a smile to faces and a chuckle, whilst the novelty of the other cake brought back some childhood memories.

Whilst both are winners to us, the cake from Plessington Court won the most votes.

Congratulations folks!

Chapel House Care is proud of the fact that our staff will support residents to maintain baking and decorating skills, all in the spirit of Montessori Therapy.

For our second week of Advent here at Chapel House and Plessington Court we have had our Christmas party with lots of fun & games and songs from lovely singer Sheila followed by a buffet tea all shared together. We had a ‘hot chocolate day’ where residents chose what flavour hot chocolate they wanted along with their chosen toppings. We closed the week with a beautiful Christmas service from Reverend Ruth from a local church complete with Carols and Communion. A fantastic week all round!

All set for our Relatives Meeting!

Our Registered Manager, Keith, was dressed to impress today as he headed off to the Gift Café for our relatives meeting. It’s always wonderful to see the effort he puts into making these gatherings welcoming and professional. Leo was also dressed for the festivities 🐾🎄🦴

These meetings are such an important part of life at Chapel House—bringing families together, sharing updates, and strengthening the bond between our home and our community.

A big thank you to Keith for leading with care, dedication, and a touch of festive style! 🎄☕

🎨🍪🐻 Children in Need 2025 at Plessington Court 🐻🍪🎨

We’re getting stuck in for a brilliant cause today—Children in Need 2025! Our residents and team are joining in the fun with Pudsey Bear biscuit decorating, painting sessions, and plenty of laughter along the way.

The creativity is flowing, the icing is flying, and Pudsey is popping up everywhere you look! Later, we’ll be gathering together to watch the BBC’s Children in Need coverage, cheering on the incredible fundraising efforts happening across the country.

It’s a joy to be part of something that brings people together for such an important cause. 💛

Today we have commemorated Armistice Day by placing a cross in the garden of remembrance during our church service this morning, participating in the 11am two minutes silence and later enjoying music and songs in memory of fallen soldiers. We also spent time with our own Veterans, thanking them for their service and spending time appreciating the meaning behind the poppy we wear proudly.

This week has been one of quiet strength and shared moments.
We’ve said goodbye to cherished friends—each farewell a reminder of the deep bonds formed here, and the privilege of walking alongside someone in their final chapter.
Amid the emotion, we’ve also been lifted by kindness. Volunteers arrived with open hearts and willing hands. A great visit from the our friends and their beautiful cars.
And behind the scenes, the work continues. Improvements to our buildings—are more than bricks and mortar.
To every team member, family, and visitor: thank you for being part of this week.

We didn’t let the lack of fireworks stop us! We’ve made marshmallow sparklers, firework biscuits, enjoyed a TV firework display with glow sticks, hot dogs and hot chocolate! Residents have also enjoyed chatting about what they like and don’t like about firework and their memories of ‘Penny for the Guy’. We’ve also had colouring, crosswords and word searches for residents to do if they fancied it. What a positive bonfire night despite the cancellation!

Hi there,

This November, Kyla is swimming for Dementia UK – a cause close to my heart.

Just £10 could pay for the telephone costs of two families calling its free Dementia Helpline, so any support would be appreciated.

Thank you so much!
