Road surface dressing programme update.

The Council has started this year’s surface dressing programme which will help to prolong the operational life of roads and avoid the need for expensive future repairs and roadworks.

Surface dressing is a weather sensitive process and works can be delayed by both wet, cold and very hot weather.

The process involves applying a thin layer of bitumen (known as a binder) and then covering it with loose stone chippings. The dressing is then rolled, which together with the actions of slow moving traffic, embeds the stone chips into the road surface.

Roads in the Saughall and Mollington Ward that I am currently aware of which are scheduled for treatment are as follows:

A540 Parkgate Road
First application start/finish: Saturday 16th May
Second application start/finish: Wednesday 20th May
Working times: 9.30am to 7pm
Road markings - TBC

Townfield Lane, Mollington
First application start/finish: Sunday 17th May
Second application start/finish: Thursday 21st May
Working times: 9.30am to 7pm
Road markings - TBC

Grove Road, Mollington
First application start/finish: Sunday 17th May
Working times: 9.30am to 7pm
Road markings - TBC

Have your say….Cheshire West are inviting residents, partners and local organisations across Cheshire West and Chester to take part in our All Age Carers Survey.

Whether or not you have direct experience of unpaid caring, your views will help inform the refreshed All Age Carer Strategy—helping us recognise, value and better support unpaid carers of all ages, and ensuring future support reflects what carers need most.

Please take a few minutes to take our survey.

St George’s Day at Plessington Court 🐉🇬🇧
Our residents have been busy baking St George’s Day treats — and even took a little trip through British history, learning about the Pearly Kings and Queens tradition.
A day full of pride, stories, and plenty of delicious goodies.

More roadworks 😟 The road at the bottom of Puddington lane by Chapel House Lane junction is currently blocked. Access is through Burton only. However! The main road to Burton from the Chester High Road is also closed. Mudhouse Lane is open but it is very narrow so take care. The road signs in Burton say the lane is closed-ignore them! Hopefully you will find your way.

We are pleased to share an update about an exciting project we’ve been working on. We have spoken with our staff teams, residents, and their families about our plans to transform the former NatWest building on Whitby Road into a modern, purpose‑designed day care centre.

This project reflects our long‑term commitment to supporting older people in our community — offering safe, welcoming spaces that promote independence, connection, and wellbeing.

A planning application has now been submitted to Cheshire West and Chester Council, and local news outlets have begun sharing the story. You can read the coverage here:
Chester Standard – Care organisation planning to transform vacant NatWest building in Ellesmere Port

While this is still early in the process, we’re excited about the potential this development holds for local families and for the wider community. As always, we will continue to communicate openly as the project progresses.

Thank you for your continued support — and for being part of our Chapel House and Plessington Court family.

PLANNING documents indicate that the site could be changed into a day care centre.

We had the most wonderful Easter weekend here at Chapel House, filled with creativity, laughter, and plenty of chocolate.
Crafting magic — From fluffy bunnies to cheerful chicks, our Easter crafts brought out everyone’s imagination.
Chocolate treats — Homemade chocolate nests were a huge hit, beautifully made (and quickly enjoyed!).
Entertainment with Sheila in both homes yesterday(who constantly entertains for donations to charity) & togetherness — Music, laughter, and shared moments made the day truly special.
It’s these simple joys — baking, crafting, celebrating together — that make Chapel House feel like home.
Wishing all our families and friends a warm and happy Easter.

We have had a truly lovely Easter here at Plessington Court. Our residents enjoyed plenty of sweet treats, and our wonderful families filled the home with beautiful balloons, kindness, and so much cheer.

Amid the celebrations, our thoughts have also been with one of our dear residents who became unwell just before Easter and is currently in hospital. We’re holding them — and their family — close in our hearts and wishing them comfort and strength.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the weekend special.

Happy Easter everyone
