This week, behind the scenes of our usual activities, we have been putting a real focus on Nutrition and Hydration. We’ve enjoyed fruit salad in the garden, Saturday Brunch, Smoothie Sunday and even used our wonderful GIFT cafe to have a coffee in a different environment!

Earlier this week we celebrated St. Patrick’s Day with some Shamrock ☘️ Shortbread made across both homes! The gorgeous weather meant we got to enjoy them in our lovely garden 🪴

A Touch of Irish Magic at Chapel House & Plessington Court ☘️☘️☘️

Our Registered Manager — accompanied by our very own little leprechaun, Leo — brought an extra sprinkle of St Patrick’s Day cheer to our residents today.

They made special visits to everyone with Irish connections, sharing smiles, stories, and a bit of good old-fashioned luck along the way. The room lit up everywhere they went, and it was a lovely reminder of how meaningful these small moments can be.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day feel so festive. May the luck of the Irish stay with you all.

We have had a lovely afternoon today, we were joined by Jess and the gorgeous Fudgecake. Fudgecake was welcomed in and loved being fussed by all the residents and staff 🐴

Hello Friends, Customers and Neighbours

We hope you are keeping well. We wanted to kindly remind everyone that the driveway and car park at Chapel House, Plessington Court and Gift Cafe are private property. Visitors and guests of our premises are welcome to park, but can everyone be considerate, park so others can also park and there is only enough space to park for the duration of their stay in the grounds and not longer. This is so all those wishing to visit the homes or the cafe can be accommodated and are not turned away due to poorly parked or left vehicles.

Over the past week we have had to approach several people who were using the car park and driveway for non‑permitted activities, including parking horse boxes to leave and exercise horses in the village, using the area for children’s cycling practice, and groups of dog walkers using the grounds as part of their morning route.

While we understand that the space may appear convenient, it is essential that access remains clear and available for our residents, their families, emergency services, and café patrons. Unauthorised use also creates safety concerns for vulnerable people who rely on these facilities.

We would be very grateful if everyone could help us by ensuring the driveway and car park are not used as a public amenity. Your cooperation makes a real difference to the smooth running of the homes and the wellbeing of those who live here.

Today a couple of residents went to a local garden centre to choose some new herbs, vegetables and flowers for our Sensory Garden. Fingers crossed for some nice weather in the coming weeks and months so we can start sowing the seeds and enjoying the garden space 🪴

Earlier this week we celebrated both Shrove Tuesday and Lunar New Year!
We started by sharing pancakes with a choice of toppings, this prompted conversation with residents about their memories of Shrove Tuesdays growing up including complaints that our pancakes aren’t as good as mother’s pancakes! 🥞
Following on into the afternoon we did some themed activities related to the Lunar New Year 🧧 including colouring, quizzes, a word search and chatting about what the Chinese Zodiac says about each of us and whether we thought the suggested traits matched our personalities. Finally we finished with some fortune cookies after dinner!
