Any excuse here at Goldwell Manor for a quiz!
We thought it was a great way to celebrate St Patrick's Day and to test our knowledge of all things Irish.🪉

With multiple choice, true or false and picture rounds it was inclusive for anyone wanting to take part.

St Patrick's Day Part 1 ☘️🌈🪉🪙💚

Mary and Ken from 'Poetic Therapy' helped us mark St Patrick's Day by presenting an informative and picturesque slideshow all about the emerald isle. ☘️

As well as beautiful scenery we were treated to a selection of Irish themed poetry and of cause a sing along which included traditional Irish Folk music 🪉

Thank you for another successful visit which gave us plenty to talk about. 🌈💚🪉☘️🌈🪙💚🪉☘️🌈🪙💚🪉☘️

Goldwell Manor welcomed back the very talented Rory and Katy to entertain us with their moves.
The pair gave demonstrations and performed ballroom dancing followed by a showcase of Latin dancing. 🕺🏼💃🏼
The performance brought back memories for some of our residents who shared their own stories of dancing in Blackpool Tower ballroom year's ago.🕺🏼💃🏼

February's Literacy group welcomed some very special guests, a group of Year 5 children from Brockwell School joined us and made everyone's afternoon.

Year 5 have been working on producing their own book of poetry and wanted to share it with our residents.
The children read out a selection and then went around the room talking to our lovely resident's and showing them the book they had produced including artwork to accompany the poems.

We were all really impressed with the beautiful creations. Residents commented about the polite, well behaved youngsters and how they are a credit to the school.
Not only were the youngsters extremely talented, they showed great patience and empathy and as Marian quite rightly pointed out "these children are the future".

A huge thank you to Claire from 'Rise' for her hugely successful visit in February.
Once a month Claire spends the morning with residents on Scarsdale Suite and makes a huge impact.
Claire uses a variety of sport equipment and sensory items to create meaningful activities for all abilities.
Working with individuals and small groups to get everyone moving, smiling and boosting our self esteem.
