A Kind Reminder to Our Patients 💙

Our staff are here to help and are always doing their very best to accommodate patients. While we understand that delays and frustrations can happen, aggressive or unkind behaviour towards staff is not acceptable.

Please be aware that if you arrive late for your appointment, you may not be seen. Our clinicians are exceptionally busy.

Although the waiting room may not always appear busy, our team is working constantly behind the scenes.
Clinicians are:
- Seeing patients face to face
- Making telephone consultations
- Reviewing test results
- Actioning hospital letters and clinical tasks
- Dealing with prescription requests
- Responding to online consultation requests
And much more

At the same time, our reception and admin team are:
- Answering a high volume of telephone calls
- Actioning clinical and administrative tasks
- Managing results and correspondence
- Supporting clinicians throughout the day

Much of this work happens out of sight, but it is vital to keeping the practice running safely and effectively.

We kindly ask all patients to treat our staff with respect and understanding. Abuse towards staff will not be tolerated. We truly appreciate the patience and kindness shown by the vast majority of our patients—it makes a real difference.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

From October to March we can’t make enough vitamin D from sunlight, so to keep bones and muscles healthy, it’s best to take a daily 10 microgram supplement of vitamin D. You can get vitamin D from most pharmacies and retailers.

👀 ❄️ The Met Office has issued warnings for significant snowfall across the county from 5pm tonight, so we’ve taken the decision to close several of our highest roads from 6pm tonight until they are safe to use:

• The A57 Snake Pass, from the junction with the A6013 to Glossop
• The A54/A537 Cat and Fiddle, from the junction with Leek Road, Buxton to the county boundary
• The A6024 Holme Moss, from the junction with the A628 to the county boundary
• The A53 Axe Edge, from the junction with Grin Low Road, Buxton to the county boundary
• The A5004, Long Hill, from the Horwich End traffic lights at Whaley Bridge to the A53 St John’s Road, Buxton

⛔ This is not a decision we have taken lightly, and is based on public safety. We understand that the National Highways will close the Woodhead Pass tonight, and it has been announced that there will be no trains through the Hope Valley from Manchester to Sheffield.

In addition the Via Gellia (A5012) is also closed tonight, from just after Woodside Cafe after the junction with the road to Bonsall up to Grangemill (the junction with the B5056).

🚗Please share this information with those you think need it. Heavy snow is forecast so please do not travel unless your journey is essential.

Just a reminder of our opening hours. We hope you all have a happy and healthy festive season.

For many people, symptoms of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) can feel stronger or harder to manage this time of year.
Please see the helpful advice below:

For some people, symptoms of seasonal affective disorder (SAD) can feel more noticeable or harder to manage during the winter.

But small things can help:

🔵 try some physical activity – anything that gets you moving
🔵 make the most of natural light – getting outside or sitting near windows
🔵 plan for tougher days – shifting stressful tasks or building in more rest

There’s also treatment available if you’re finding things really tough – such as light therapy, talking therapies or medication.
