Every Monday and Thursday, we celebrate our Special Resident of the Day, giving us the wonderful opportunity to make the day extra special for one of our residents.
Yesterday, Anita had a truly lovely day. She enjoyed having her hair beautifully done by Tina our amazing hairdresser, who is always so kind and caring with our residents. We would like to give Tina a special thank you for all the love and attention she gives.

Anita also chose her favourite colour for the nails and enjoyed one of her favourite meals — fish and chips! She was so happy, and all of her wishes for the day were fulfilled.

Thank you to everyone who helped make Anita’s Special Resident of the Day so special and memorable.

Today was a truly lovely day at Holmewood Care Home as we all came together to celebrate VE Day. As a veterans’ care home, we are incredibly proud of our residents and all those who have served.
A big thank you to Marie and Kevin for the beautiful VE Day show, and for helping us remember through the songs and words that honoured our shared history.
We are deeply grateful to all those who gave their lives so that we may live in freedom today. We remember them with respect and gratitude.
Thank you to everyone who made the day so special. ❤️

This week, as we celebrate Deaf Awareness Week, we had the pleasure of an inspiring and educational session led by our wonderful resident, Jenny, a former teacher with knowledge of sign language.
Jenny introduced us to the basics of communicating through sign teaching us simple words, questions, and everyday expressions that we can now use in our interactions with residents. It was an engaging and eye-opening experience for everyone involved.

Thank you, Jenny, for sharing your knowledge and helping us take an important step toward more inclusive communication in our community.

Happy Birthday, Cathy!🎉
It was such a beautiful birthday party. All the relatives, staff, and residents enjoyed being by your side, sharing fun games, karaoke songs, and exciting competitions.
The most unforgettable moment was when you agreed to sit in the stocks and let some of the residents throw wet sponges at you — everyone loved it, and you enjoyed every moment too! You are truly brave and always ready to make people smile because of the love you have for your residents.

We are so blessed to celebrate you today. Wishing you happiness, good health, laughter, and many more wonderful birthdays ahead.

Our resident Ernest, who sang in The Voice Male Choir Chesterfield for more than 22 years, yesterday celebrated his birthday, and we wanted to make it extra special by inviting some of his friends from the choir for a surprise celebration.

Yesterday, we held a wonderful party filled with beautiful songs, a lovely cake, laughter, and warm memories. Everyone enjoyed the occasion and shared their best wishes with Ernest.

Your life is a light, Ernest. Stay strong — you are loved and truly precious to all of us here at Holmewood Care Home. 💙
