“The ukulele is the perfect instrument for someone with a restless heart, because it travels easily through space. But it also travels through music easily and effortlessly. It slips through borders so fluidly. I’ve never had the heart to say no to the ukulele. When it feels like going somewhere, we just go there.” so true!

What a beautiful afternoon we had with the Dronfield Ukulele Group led by Simon Temple! We are so grateful to John, one of our relatives, for inviting them.
It was such a joy to hear the lovely, well-known songs that brought back wonderful memories for our residents. We shared cake, coffee, and a chat, and it was truly special to build relationships after the music. A big thank you to everyone who made it possible!

All money raised and donations will go directly to Macmillan Cancer Support, helping people affected by cancer.

Here at Holmewood, every birthday is a reason for us all to come together, cheer, and share special wishes. This week, our RAF veteran Raymond 🇬🇧✈️ the wonderful age of 94, and he was overjoyed to celebrate his special day. With a big smile he told us, “I never thought I’d reach 90—let alone 94!”
We sang for him, played fun games, and enjoyed cake, champagne, and even a shandy, which made the celebration even more cheerful.
A heartfelt THANK YOU, Raymond, for your three years of service in the RAF in Singapore and Malaya. We are so proud of you. God bless you! 🎉🇬🇧✈️ Happy Birthday Raymond!

We are so delighted to share that we have started making blankets for children in need in Romania!🤩🥳🤩🧶🪡🧶
Today, our wonderful ladies, along with several families, gathered together to knit blankets for children facing economic hardship, supporting the charity of Precious Life Association Romania.
What a joyful day it was — knitting, sharing coffee, enjoying cake, and even singing together!
A heartfelt thank you to the families of Deborah, Jean, and Rita for their precious help and wholehearted involvement.
We mark this beautiful beginning with the belief that small beginnings lead to greater ends.

All the residents at Holmewood were wonderfully surprised with a special Summer Holiday Show by Kevin & Marie.🎤💃🕺
It was Corina’s lovely idea: if we can’t take all the residents to the seaside, then let the seaside and holiday spirit come to us here at Holmewood!
A big thank you to Marie and Kevin for their fantastic performance!
And a heartfelt thank you to Cristina, our cook, for the wonderful fruits, cakes, and special drinks she prepared for us!🍓🍓🍉🍉🍇🍇🧁🥧🍷🍸
