Dementia Awareness Week runs from 15th May - 21st May and is supported by The Alzheimer's Society. The Alzheimer's Society is a UK charity that provides support and research for those affected by dementia.

By raising awareness about this condition, it is hoped that more people will be diagnosed earlier, giving more time for them to come to terms with future symptoms.

Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) is a type of dementia, which is rare and usually develops in people aged 40–60 years. However, it can appear in people as young as 20 years of age.

It causes problems with thinking and speaking, as well as behavioural changes that progressively worsen over time.

People with Pick’s disease tend to have more problems with speech than those with Alzheimer’s disease.

Read more about it here:

Pick’s disease is a rare type of dementia that affects the frontal lobe and temporal lobe, causing progressive loss of mental function. Learn more here.
