We’re so proud to celebrate two incredible achievements this month 🎉

👩‍💼 Kirsty, our amazing Assistant Manager, has completed her Level 3 Lead Adult Worker qualification — adding even more expertise to her leadership of our day-to-day services!

💌 Martyna, our brilliant Business Services Assistant, has achieved her Level 3 Business Administrator qualification — boosting her skills to keep EDS running smoothly and efficiently.

These two ladies have worked so hard to reach this milestone, and we couldn’t be prouder ❤️

Vicki, our Compliance Manager, shares a wonderful ‘Behind the Scenes’ update with our care staff on a weekly basis, to ensure everyone is kept up to date with the work management has put in that week and what is being done to continue developing EDS Homecare! We thought we’d share some highlights from this week’s update:
📝We have completed 6 new Client Assessments for new care packages, all to start this week.
❤️We sent out 3 compliments to our staff members, from general communication with our clients.
🌷We have updated 5 clients care plans due to changes in their care packages or needs.
🖊️We completed 2 monthly skin assessments for clients, to protect their skin integrity.
🤝We have organised mentor meetings for the beginning of November, for our staff mentors to gather feedback and share their ideas with management.
This is just a snippet of what has been carried out by management this week. We hope this small insight into what the management team at EDS Homecare does in a week is informative, as we continue to provide quality services for our clients!

As you may be aware, EDS Homecare have been providing excellent care services at home for over 25 years, across Dronfield, the Peak District, and most recently Chesterfield and surrounding areas 🏠

Companionship visits are an extremely popular option for individuals who may not always need support with daily living but would love a companion to sit in the home with them, or to get out and about into the community! That being said, anyone can reap the benefits of this service. Here are just some of the brilliant benefits of companionship care:
💌Continuity – benefit from regular care staff, who easily and smoothly get to know your preferences and routines, who can very quickly become your friends!
🏠Home help – companionship services can be used for home upkeep. Tasks such as cleaning, fetching the shopping and sorting paperwork are just a few examples of how a companionship carer can support you at home (with a good chat and cup of tea included!)
🚗Trips out – companionship care enables you to get out of your home. All of our carers are insured to transport our clients, with the possibilities for a day out being endless, and always at your discretion.
❤️Respite – companionship visits can also be used to give main carers a break. We know how difficult it can be looking after a loved one 24/7 and therefore companionship visits can be used as a substitute.

We know how intimidating or confusing navigating the world of care can be, especially for someone with no prior experience of organising or receiving care. It can be a daunting commitment, and choosing the right care provider, or even the right care package is a huge decision! For this reason, we have begun offering a ‘Meet and Greet’ service, completely free of charge.

Booking in a Meet and Greet means that a member of the EDS Homecare management team comes out to your home and is therefore on hand to have a relaxed conversation about any and all queries you may have about care in general, or EDS Homecare specifically. Some examples of what can be discussed are:
Types of services provided, and which is best suited for you.
Your needs and how you would like them to be met.
Past experiences and what you would like to avoid.
How to access other support, such as funding, therapy etc.
Any other queries you may have about receiving care.

This is a brilliant way to learn more about EDS Homecare’s services and figure out what’s best for you, without the pressure of committing to a contract or a certain package of care before you know what exactly it is that you want.

What does a day at work look like for our Managing Director and the Registered Manager?
Kate, our Managing Director at EDS Homecare, has been involved with EDS since childhood. Her parents, Lucy and Tim, began our journey in 1999, and Kate, alongside her husband Jake (our Finance Director), took over the ownership of the company in 2020, all while Kate was a Registered General Nurse at Manchester Royal Infirmary. Since this moment, Kate has worked tirelessly to build on the business, including expanding our services into Chesterfield, modernising the organisation, planning and introducing new services (such as Live-In Care), and has put in an abundance of behind-the-scenes work to place EDS Homecare where it stands today. Kate remains involved in the day-to-day operations of the business through communication with Gosia, our Registered Manager, though her role is largely involved in monitoring and communicating with other organisations and professionals regarding further business matters, such as the Home Office, Derbyshire County Council, the Care Quality Commission, and others, to preserve and evolve EDS Homecare 💬
Gosia is EDS Homecare’s Registered Manager. With over 15 years of experience in the homecare sector, with over 10 of those being with EDS Homecare, her vast amount of experience from care staff, to care coordination, to management, is invaluable for the safe, effective, and well-led leadership of the organisation. As Registered Manager, Gosia is responsible overall for the organisation. She oversees the day-to-day management of the organisation and office staff, and is not afraid to get stuck in with rota and scheduling work, compliance work, or active care visits if needs be! She also regularly communicates with external organisations and agencies to ensure our compliance with relevant legislation, to protect our service users and staff and to promote the wellbeing of the business! ❤️
Both Kate and Gosia have been responsible for invaluable developments for EDS Homecare, and we would not be where we are today without the input and experience that these two have brought us! 👩‍🏫

What is the purpose of our Culture Lead role, and what does an average day for her look like?

Christine, EDS Homecare’s Culture Lead, has been with us for over 2 years, working tirelessly as a care assistant out in the community, providing top quality care for our clients. She very quickly showed that she is a dedicated staff member, and her kind and caring nature has shone through to both her clients and colleagues✨

EDS Homecare designed the Culture Lead role to support and uplift our sponsored staff base. We know how intimidating it can be to uproot one’s entire life to a different area or country, therefore felt it was important to ensure that our staff members have a specified point of contact who can relate to their situation while promoting EDS Homecare’s values and ethos. From the beginning, Christine was the obvious candidate for this role due to her incredibly warm and calming personality and her brilliant reputation 🌈

Christine is on hand to offer support and guidance to staff members with both work-related and personal queries and circumstances, as a colleague and mentor. She feeds any further concerns or matters that require escalation back to the office through weekly meetings with our Lead Assistant Manager and is a valuable asset in the monitoring of day-to-day feedback, which continually improves our processes and procedures at EDS Homecare. She also provides information to staff where required and offers solutions to potential concerns or any queries where appropriate 💭

Overall, Christine’s impact as Culture Lead at EDS Homecare is invaluable, and she is certainly an incredibly important member in the team! 🤝

What does a normal day at work look like for our Business Services Assistant, and how is she supported by our Finance Director?
Martyna is EDS Homecare’s Business Services Assistant. She began her journey with us at the age of 17 in 2021, joining the team as a care assistant. Her passion for the job at hand, and genuine care for her clients became evident very early on. With her studies focussing on mathematics, she was selected to become EDS Homecare’s Business Services Assistant, the first role of its kind, to support and maintain the behind-the-scenes running of the company! On a daily basis, Martyna is on hand to offer support or advice to anyone needing assistance with their invoices or wages, queries regarding care funding, or to be a friendly voice on the other end of the phone while payments are made. This is in addition to the multitude of tasks she oversees ensuring invoices, wages and staff holidays are completed in a timely, efficient manner. This means that the company can continue to provide top quality services, with the knowledge that business and financial matters are in safe hands 🤝
Martyna is also our staff trainer, ensuring that both existing staff and new recruits are equipped with the knowledge and skills to care for our clients 👩‍🏫
Jake, our Finance Director and one of the owners of the company, oversees Martyna’s role and has supported her development within the management team. His input is invaluable to maintaining the day-to-day operations of the business, and his overall support of the members of the team ensures EDS Homecare remains well-led. Jake manages accounts queries, payroll, and the company’s IT infrastructure, as well as HR. Jake’s role means that EDS always remain compliant with regulations and guidelines imposed on us 📃
Overall, Jake and Martyna ensure that business activity is kept on top of and remains as smooth and efficient as possible, putting in important work behind-the-scenes so that EDS Homecare can continue providing top services! ⛰️

What do our Lead Assistant Manager Josie, and Assistant Manager Kirsty do during their time at work?

With over 10 years of experience working for EDS Homecare, Josie has seen it all. She began as a care assistant and worked her way up to working on the emergency on call, into care coordination, and is now the Lead Assistant Manager. She spends a lot of her time supporting our Registered Manager in the day-to-day managing of the company. She also works incredibly hard daily ensuring that our run structures are effective and suitable for our wonderful clients and carers and makes constant adjustments to prioritise client satisfaction and carer efficiency. Furthermore, Josie works closely with a wide range of professionals, such as social workers and NHS staff to plan and implement packages of care for individuals, or to promote safer living. She is also a valued staff trainer, passing on her expertise to both new recruits and existing staff 🖥️

Kirsty, our Assistant Manager, is also an extremely dedicated and hard-working member of the management team, having been a part of EDS for nearly 9 years. Kirsty oversees the day-to-day management of rotas and scheduling, maximising positive outcomes for both clients and carers and ensures that rotas are completed as effectively as possible. Furthermore, her vast experience and golden personality shine through, and she is on the day-to-day phones for all incoming enquiries, ensuring each enquiry is dealt with promptly and responsively. If you call us, you are more than likely to hear Kirsty’s lovely voice on the other end of the phone! 📞

What does an average day at work look like for our Compliance Manager Vicki, and our Compliance Officer Morgan?

As a homecare provider, we are regulated and inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), who set rigorous standards of care that all providers must adhere to. Our dedicated Compliance team ensures that we not only comply with the regulations set on us, but that we continue to exceed expectations 🌠

They achieve this by ensuring all EDS Homecare assessments, policies and procedures are up to date with good practice, guidelines, and key lines of enquiry. This means that everything that EDS does, is constantly updated by Vicki and Morgan to ensure that we follow CQC guidelines at all times 📝

They also implement and monitor our Quality Assurance (QA) programme to protect our clients and promote the most effective, caring and well-led services. This is done through client satisfaction surveys, client home visits, and monthly face-to-face monitoring of clients with identified further or complex needs 📷
They are a much valued team here at EDS Homecare and put in incredible work each day for both our staff and clients! ❤️
