Behavioural Therapy Do you feel you’re not in control of your life? Feeling Stressed? Anxious? ADHD? Therapy can help you

The REBT (Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy) model of CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) is based on a combination of the basic principles from Behavioural and Cognitive psychology. It is different from historical approaches to psychotherapy, such as the psychoanalytic approach where the therapist looks for the unconscious meaning behind behaviours and then formulates a diagnosis. Instead, both REBT and CBT are "problem-focused" and "action-oriented", meaning it is used to treat specific problems related to a diagnosed mental disorders and the therapist's role is to assist the client in finding and practising effective strategies to address the identified goals and decrease symptoms of the disorder. The theory is based on the belief that thought distortions and maladaptive behaviours play a role in the development and maintenance of psychological disorders, and that symptoms and associated distress can be reduced by teaching new information-processing skills and coping mechanisms.

"I was in a constant battle with the ticking clock, my to-do list was a mountain that never seemed to get any smaller. As an individual with ADHD, procrastination was my worst enemy. But guess what? I overcame it.
I started by accepting my ADHD, instead of seeing it as a drawback, I embraced it as a unique challenge that needed my own unique solution. I introduced structure into my life; daily schedules became my best friend. I set small, achievable goals and celebrated each win, using the positivity to fuel my journey onward.
I found unique ways to stimulate my brain; changing tasks kept my mind engaged. I learned to manage distractions instead of letting them manage me. I committed to doing the hardest tasks first.
Procrastination was a tough opponent, but ADHD didn't get the best of me. Today, I not only get things done, but I also do them well. Remember, it's not about the cards you're dealt but how you play them."

One of the most empowering lessons that you can learn in life is that no one has the power to make you feel inferior without your consent. This quote, attributed to former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, is a reminder that you are in control of your own emotions and perceptions of yourself. You have the power to choose how you react to other people's words and actions, and whether or not you allow them to affect your self-worth.
