What is Pulmonary Fibrosis?

This is a rare condition in the lungs which creates scarring resulting in breathing becoming increasingly harder to do.

Some symptoms of Pulmonary Fibrosis are shortness of breath, dry cough, tiredness, weight loss and loss of appetite. If you are experiencing these symptoms seek medical advice.

💜Today marks the start of Pulmonary Fibrosis Awareness Month 2025.

This year's campaign, ‘Every Breath Counts’, puts the pulmonary fibrosis community at its heart. Visit our campaign website to find out more: https://everybreathcounts.co.uk/

Throughout September, we’ll be sharing Lorraine and Allan, Meg, Milan and Dave’s stories, each bringing a different perspective on pulmonary fibrosis.

We've also created a space where you can share your pulmonary fibrosis journey, because every voice matters, and every experience is unique.

📢Add your voice to our campaign. Your story will appear on our microsite and help raise awareness of pulmonary fibrosis: https://everybreathcounts.co.uk/share-your-story

Know your numbers week 8-14 September.

This week is in place to raise awareness about blood pressure.

Know your numbers week is crucial as every September blood pressure checks are taken by thousands of individuals in order to prevent strokes and heart attacks.

Over 5 million people live unknowingly with a high blood pressure across the UK.

Give yourself some peace of mind by making sure to check your blood pressure with our monitor in the waiting room.

This week is Know Your Numbers Week.

The best way to understand your blood pressure is to check it regularly.

Our online blood pressure tool will help you understand what your numbers mean and give you tips on how to manage your blood pressure.

We are encouraging patients to book their flu vaccinations online via SystmOnline or the NHS app again this year. You can register for the NHS app at home; you do not need to come in to the surgery. If you are eligible and have a mobile phone number on your record, you will receive a booking link via SMS in due course, which will let you browse our available appointments and book at your leisure. If you cannot access booking digitally please contact our reception team on 01243 813450 to book in. We recommend you call in the afternoon, as our phone lines are quieter.

The current eligibility guidelines are as follow:

- Aged 2 or 3 years on 31 August 2023
-Eligible school aged children (Given at school not in practice)
-Aged 6 months to under 65 years in clinical risk groups
-Pregnant women
-Aged 65 years and over
-Those in long-stay residential care homes
-Carers, those in receipt of carer’s allowance or main carer of an older or disabled person
-Household contacts of immunocompromised individuals
-Frontline health and social care staff

The flu clinics currently available are as follows:

Saturday 4th October

Saturday 11th October

Please arrive as close to your appointment time slot as possible and join the queue at the front door. Our flu clinics are very busy but we assure you that the wait is shorter than the queue would initially suggest. There will be a member of staff at the door to guide you through the clinic. Please wear a short sleeve t-shirt so that you are ready to be vaccinated, this way we can ensure patients are in and out with minimal delay.
