We hope you are all keeping well in these strange times!

This is a quick update to let you know that we are able to stay open and continue to look after your eyewear and eyecare needs.

As an essential service, opticians are exempt from the lockdown and you are still able to come and see us for your essential, emergency and routine eye test and any eyewear needs. We kindly request you make an appointment to come and see us, as due to social distancing guidelines we have to limit the amount of people in the practice.

We are following guidance from the government and our professional bodies, and of course still taking the necessary COVID protection measures we have had in place since Spring.

We are delighted to welcome you back to the practice for eye tests and choosing eyewear.

We are delighted to be back and fully open. To be fair, we never actually closed. We have been working throughout these strange last few months (although at a reduced capacity) to help our clients with phone consultations, video consultations and the odd emergency appointment.

Most of the Forbes team are now back in action after what seems like ages. I am definitely relieved to have the team back. We will now have more capacity and can meet your eye care and eye wear needs more speedily and efficiently.

For everyone’s safety and comfort we have had to make a few changes;
* Extended 1.5 hour appointment times - we are working by appointment only to allow physical distancing. Longer appointment times allow us to give you a thorough eye examination and an unhurried service throughout your visit. You will have our full attention in a calm, relaxed environment.
* Cleaning and Sanitation - we are following strict hygiene guidelines with all surfaces being wiped and disinfected between every appointment. All our frames are sanitised before you try them on. There is hand sanitiser and hand washing facilities available throughout the practice.
* Face Coverings - we request you come with a face mask (or we’ll provide one) when you arrive which you can wear for any part of the appointment where we might need to be closer then 1m. Our team will wear a face cover throughout your visit. We have been smiling with our eyes!

Regardless of these small changes, there is one thing that we will not change - we expect to provide the usual high standard of personal care, professional expertise and incredible independent eyewear during your visit to Forbes Eyecare.

P.S If you are classed as vulnerable, please let us know and we can book you the first appointment of the day to make sure you are the first person we see after our morning deep clean.

In these unprecedented times, the health of our clients, staff and all our families is of utmost importance. Therefore, following guidance from our government, NHS England and The College of Optometrists, we at Forbes Eyecare are postponing all regular and routine eye examinations.

We hope to keep everyone safe at home, and allow the amazing NHS front-line staff to cope and continue to do their critical work. We'll open for urgent cases by appointment only.

If you need to order contact lenses, we can have them delivered directly to your home. Please email us at forbeseyecare@gmail.com , and we will get in touch to arrange this.

If you have an eye emergency, where you've noticed a sight problem or that your glasses are broken, please email us or whatsapp on 07946421848 with your contact details, and we will call you back to triage your needs and help you as best we can. We'll only arrange an appointment if it's an absolute must.

For any clients that have glasses on order with us, please be reassured that we will be in touch as soon as they're ready, and arrange an appropriate way to get them to you.

We would like to thank you all for your support, and we will keep you updated regarding our opening hours in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, please know that we are thinking about you and hope you and your families stay safe and well.
