Planting Wishes 🌱✨

As we approach sowing season, our wonderfully creative events coordinator Aimee introduced a truly special gardening project, one filled with hope and imagination🥰

Our residents began by crafting and personalising their own clay pots, each one as unique as the person who made it. The next step was writing heartfelt wishes onto seeding paper… before finally planting those wishes into the soil🙌🏻

Now, we wait as both wildflowers and wishes begin to grow 🌸💛

We can’t wait to see the garden burst into colour, carrying these beautiful intentions with it. A lovely reminder that spring (and new beginnings) are just around the corner!🤩

Thank You ❤️🥰

Every day should be National Caregivers Day. Exceptional care goes far beyond administering medication, supporting with meals, or providing personal care. It’s about showing up every single day with compassion, patience and genuine love for the wonderful people we are privileged to look after😊

It’s in the warm smiles, the reassuring words, the quiet moments of understanding, and the dedication shown even on the busiest of days. It’s choosing this role not just as a job, but as a calling!

Today, our residents shared a small token of appreciation for the incredible team at Waterhaven Place Care Home, but the gratitude they feel is present every single day.

To our wonderful carers: your kindness, commitment and heart do not go unnoticed. You make a difference in ways that truly matter, and you are valued and loved more than words can say.

Thank you for going above and beyond, always💗🌹

Flip That Pancake! 🥞✨

What a super fun Shrove Tuesday at Waterhaven Place even if our activities were slightly… misaligned! 😂

We kicked off the day with an engaging and energising exercise class led by the fantastic LV Rehabilitation team. In hindsight, it might have been better scheduled after the pancakes to help burn off a few extra calories… 😅

With the sun shining beautifully, garden walks were definitely in order, fresh air and blue skies included! ☀️

Then came the main event… an intense (but friendly) competitive pancake flipping contest with residents and families fully embracing the challenge. There were flips, near-misses and plenty of laughter along the way!🍳

Huge congratulations to our champions David and Jean, worthy winners indeed! 🏆🥞

🎬 Cinema Club – Every Friday at 2.30pm 🍿

Our next screening is coming up, and we’re showing a truly inspirational story of a teacher breaking the stats quo in Dead Poets Society.

A new English teacher, John Keating, is introduced to an all-boys preparatory school that is known for its ancient traditions and high standards. He uses unorthodox methods to reach out to his students, who face enormous pressures from their parents and the school. With Keating's help, students Neil Perry, Todd Anderson and others learn to break out of their shells, pursue their dreams and seize the day🙌🏻

Love is in the air… Happy Valentine’s! 🌹💗

What a truly wonderful day at Waterhaven Place Care Home, celebrating alongside our residents, their families and our dedicated staff team. A day to share the most powerful emotion of all — love — the feeling that connects us, lifts us and makes the world a brighter place 🤗

Flowers, smiles and beautiful music from our talented events coordinator Aimee Wagstaff filled the rooms with warmth and joy. And to make it even more special… the sun was shining! Surely the perfect omen for a day dedicated to love ☀️✨

This Valentine’s, we shared the love with our local heroes 💙🚒

We were delighted to welcome Chichester Fire Station to our Blue Light Valentine’s celebration!

Our team had the pleasure of giving them a tour of our home and introducing them to some of our wonderful residents. In return, they delivered an incredibly informative fire safety talk for both staff and residents – thank you for helping us keep everyone safe.

And of course… the highlight of the day had to be the fire engine! 🚒✨
Residents and staff took turns climbing aboard, and some of us even got to try on the protective clothing – a fantastic experience and plenty of smiles all round.

A huge thank you to our local firefighters for everything you do for our community. We appreciate you, not just on Valentine’s Day, but every single day. 💙

Anton, Jacco and Dan from our hospitality team recently joined colleagues from across our Connaught Care homes for an inspiring International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI) workshop at Portsdown View Care Home 🍽️

The session was arranged through our procurement partner allmanhall , and we were delighted to learn from two fantastic specialists, Preston Walker and James Ball 👨‍🍳👨‍🍳

They shared practical solutions, improved working practices and valuable insights into Dysphagia and how it affects individuals. Through hands-on demonstrations and collaborative discussions, we explored new ways to approach the preparation, ex*****on and presentation of food for people requiring modified diets 🥣✨

This training brings so many important benefits for our residents:

✅ Safer meal preparation aligned with IDDSI guidelines
✅ Greater consistency across our homes
✅ Improved confidence for our catering teams
✅ More appetising and dignified presentation of modified meals
✅ Enhanced mealtime experience, supporting nutrition, hydration and wellbeing

By strengthening our knowledge and skills, we’re helping to ensure that residents who require modified diets can enjoy meals that are not only safe, but also attractive, enjoyable and prepared with care ❤️

It was an engaging, hands-on experience and we’re excited to bring everything we’ve learned back to our homes to continue raising standards together 🙌

It all started with a tot of rum… 🥃⚓

David was delighted to welcome his friends from the Royal Naval Association Chichester Branch today. They reminisced about their time at sea, shared plenty of stories, and looked through old photos that brought back so many special memories.

There was lots of laughter, a few sentimental moments, and a wonderful sense of camaraderie in the room. A lovely afternoon celebrating friendship and naval tradition. 💙🇬🇧
