🧑‍⚕️ Meet Jo Kingston – Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist

Jo brings decades of physiotherapy experience spanning the NHS, private practice and elite sport – including her role as Physiotherapist for the England & GB Hockey U18 Boys Squad.

A member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP), Society of Orthopaedic Medicine (MSOM) and Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP), Jo is known for her highly practical, hands-on style. Her expertise covers manual therapy, soft tissue mobilisation, joint manipulation, targeted rehabilitation and acupuncture where appropriate.

Driven by a passion for problem-solving, Jo takes the time to understand each patient’s unique challenges, creating tailored treatment plans that restore movement, reduce pain and promote lasting recovery.

Outside the clinic, Jo is a lifelong sportswoman, from sailing and skiing to achieving single-figure golf status. She’s a qualified Yachtmaster and Ski Instructor, and when she’s not on the golf course, you might find her out on the water!

👨‍⚕️ If you’ve been a patient at Oving Medical Clinic over the years, chances are you already know Dr John Tanner - our Musculoskeletal and Sports Physician.

Dr Tanner has been with the clinic since the very beginning in the 1990s. With decades of experience, he’s a leading authority in musculoskeletal and sports medicine, combining his background as a GP with specialist training in spinal and joint care.

He’s a Fellow of the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine, a registered osteopath, and continues to lecture nationally and internationally. Dr Tanner is also an instructor for the Spine Intervention Society and teaches diagnostic ultrasound at Bournemouth University.

Alongside his clinical work, he has published three books on back pain and contributes to academic textbooks and training manuals. He’s currently involved in NHS clinical research on prolotherapy for sacroiliac dysfunction.

👨‍⚕️ Meet Mr Edward Dawe – our Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon

Mr Dawe treats everything from bunions and arthritis to diabetic foot complications and complex trauma. He’s passionate about helping patients stay mobile and pain-free – often without the need for surgery. Where surgery is required, he uses minimally invasive or arthroscopic (keyhole) techniques to support a faster, smoother recovery.

His specialist training took him across London, Sussex and Surrey, followed by prestigious fellowships in limb reconstruction and foot & ankle surgery in Bournemouth, Munich and Minneapolis.

As well as treating private patients here at Oving Medical Clinic, Mr Dawe actively contributes to the future of orthopaedics. He’s published award-winning research, and teaches medical students and trainee surgeons as an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at Brighton and Sussex Medical School.

👨‍⚕️ Meet Dr Michael Husband – our Pain Medicine Consultant

Dr Husband specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of chronic pain, with a focus on reducing the need for unnecessary medication. He champions a multidisciplinary approach to pain care, helping our patients regain quality of life through tailored treatment plans.

He completed advanced pain medicine training at Barts Health NHS Trust in London and now brings his expertise to both private practice and the NHS.

As well as seeing patients at Oving Medical Clinic, Michael leads inpatient pain services at St Richard’s Hospital, Chichester, and works with the Sussex Community Trust Pain Team in Bognor. He’s also actively involved in teaching GPs, pharmacists and hospital doctors.
