We recently welcomed a group of 5 cold-blooded, scaly, and fascinating visitors.

The visit was educational whilst captivating. Listening to Nick’s extensive knowledge of his snakes, fun facts, and common myths was extremely interesting.

The residents had the special opportunity of holding and/or touching the snakes. For some, it was the first time getting close to the creatures and for many, the first time touching one!

We recently had the joy of celebrating Edna’s birthday – surrounded by friends, family, and plenty of smiles!

Knowing that profiteroles have long been one of Edna’s favourites, our talented chef created a stunning profiterole birthday cake just for her. It was a true showstopper – and Edna was absolutely over the moon!

She was also touched to receive a thoughtful gift and card from all the staff, who were delighted to make her day extra special.

We recently welcomed four-legged friends to celebrate Intenational Dog Day! Residents were delighted to spend a heart-warming and therapeutic hour with visiting dogs, brought along by their loving owners.

The room was filled with wagging tails, smiling faces, and plenty of cuddles. The well-behaved pups were rewarded with some well-deserved treats, while our residents enjoyed a comforting cuppa and the best company of the week.

It was truly a paws-itively uplifting day for all!

Our residents spent a recent afternoon picking sloes for our sloe gin.

We all got involved with the picking and enjoyed learning new horticultural facts from our gardener, Emily.

It was a lovely afternoon; we are looking forward to the next steps of soaking our abundant supply of sloes, and eventually enjoying our homemade sloe gin!

Residents recently absorbed the beautifully warm weather in the garden with a ‘fruit and fizz’ afternoon.

We enjoyed sharing stories and laughs whilst enjoying a glass of prosecco and a variety of summer fruits 🍓☀️

Wellington Grange is a hive of industry as our lavender project moves into its second phase…

We are extremely fortunate to have an abundant supply of fresh lavender from our lovely garden. Our residents all worked together this week to strip as much of the dried lavender as possible in preparation for creating lavender bags 🪻💜

We look forward to sharing the bags around the home to all of our residents and spreading the wonderful scent of our homegrown lavender!

We were delighted to welcome Doug, a 6-year-old Labrador and ambassador dog for Guide Dogs, along with his handler, Gezel 🐾

Gezel gave an informative presentation on the important work of Guide Dogs – a charity that provides life-changing support to people who are blind or vision impaired.

Doug, calm and friendly throughout the visit, captured hearts while representing the professionalism and loyalty guide dogs are known for 💙

Residents at Wellington Grange recently enjoyed a wonderfully therapeutic activity — gathering fresh lavender and tying it into bunches to dry 🪻😌

With lavender season in full swing, the calming scent and gentle, hands-on experience brought smiles, conversation, and a sense of serenity to everyone involved.

Once dried, we’ll be crafting our very own lavender bags — perfect for tucking into drawers or giving as thoughtful gifts. We’re all looking forward to the next step in this soothing, sensory journey — and to filling our home with the comforting scent of lavender.

🌸 A Special Day at Denmans Garden

Gerald and his wife have always loved visiting Denmans Garden, not just for its stunning design, but also for their personal connection with the owner and lead landscaper.

On our recent visit, Gerald lit up as he shared the names and stories behind the flowers and shrubs we spotted along the way. His knowledge made the stroll all the more meaningful.

We rounded off the afternoon with a delicious lunch at the garden café, a perfect end to a lovely day. 💚
