Important information about walking your dog in Hotham Park, Bognor Regis.

We want to make local dog walkers aware that rat poison (rodenticide) has been placed around Hotham Park as part of pest control measures.
If you walk your dog in this area, please take extra care:
🐾 Keep dogs on a lead where possible
🐾 Prevent sniffing, scavenging, or eating anything from the ground
🐾 Be cautious around trees, hedges, and signage
🐾 Consider a basket muzzle for dogs that are known scavengers

🚨 Signs of rat poisoning in dogs 🚨
Rat poisons can cause serious, life-threatening illness. Signs may not appear immediately and can include:
❗ Lethargy or weakness
❗ Pale gums
❗ Coughing or difficulty breathing
❗ Bleeding from the nose, mouth, or in urine/faeces
❗ Bruising or swelling
❗ Vomiting or diarrhoea
❗ Collapse or seizures
⚠️ If you think your dog may have eaten rat poison, this is an emergency.
Please contact your veterinary practice or an emergency vet immediately – early treatment can be lifesaving.
If possible, let your vet know where you were walking and what you think may have been ingested.
