Prices depend on the individual room and the specific care needs of the client, ranging from Β£800 for a single room. Facilities at Nyton House
We have local shops in the village, as well as pubs, doctors and a garage that we can assist our residents in reaching in our own vehicles. There are Methodist, Catholic and Church of England churches all within a mile of the home and we do offera Christian services once a month in the home. The telephone network system ensures you do not get nuisance calls. We have WiFi and we can offer a lap top computer on request to use from time to time if you do not wish to bring your own PC to the home or would skype your family. We have our own library and a monthly visit by the mobile library service which can allow you to choose and request books
for normal print, large print, braille and talking books. There is a wheelchair accessible car and another vehicle for the more mobile residents to use. The home offers regular excursions to areas of interest as well as
additional trips which can be arranged on request. The home can, with prior arrangement, take residents to a local chapel for Sunday worship. For those residents who enjoy gardening there are small plots we can make available for them to use. We also offer reminiscing, music and arts and crafts and lots of planned activities throught the week to enjoy in the home. We have a magnificent conservatory (which is also
used for dining purposes) as well as the main lounge where we do have a TV and a grand piano. In addition to this we have an art studio in the grounds of our amazing gardens that swivals to allow various views to paint and draw. Staff at Nyton
On a typical morning shift (depending on the occupancy levels) there are 4 carers, 2 domestics, 1 cook/chef, 1 Kitchen Porter, 1 maintenance staff, gardener amd a member of the Management on
site; afternoons are 3 carers and 1 cook/chef and at night there are 2 carers awake for the whole night. At present we have 60% NVQ 2 or above trained staff, exceeding the requirements for this area. All new staff have an induction prior to starting work and then a probation period of 3 months where they have to complete an induction booklet linked to the Skills for Care Induction, which is a nationally recognised level of achievement for all new staff. Annually, or more often staff are trained and reviewed in Health and Safety, Moving and Handling, Infection Control, Control of Substances
Hazardous to Health (COSHH), First Aid, Dementia Care, Palliative Care and Safeguarding and the Deprivation of Liberty which links up to the Mental Capacity Act 2005. Fire training is undertaken 3 monthly for night staff and six monthly for day staff. We carry out regular Supervision of staff and appraisals to review their skills and understanding of the training given and allows for more training needs to be identified and acted on. We are very fortunate to have several generations of the same family working here and have done so in some cases since leaving school. Our team are very friendly and we have a happy working atmosphere, hence why we can retain the levels of experienced staff in our home.

The residents had a very creative afternoon today as we were treated to another Watercolour master class from Andrew.
This month theme was a painting of a mountain scene of the Norwegian Fjords. The residents all tried extremely hard and it was amazing to see their individual paintings and styles.

As requested by some of the ladies we held another Knit and Natter afternoon.
Sam from Housekeeping who is accomplished knitter helped everyone cast on and begin their knitting. Kay a total novice was guided by Patrica to produce three rows !!! We think it will be a while till she has enough squares for a blanket, but we all had a fun relaxing afternoon Knitting and Nattering about past garments they had made for family and friends while enjoying afternoon tea and cake.
Sadly we couldn't persuade any gents to join us this time.

It was a pleasure to spend the morning with some of the lovely residents in The Coach House at Nyton House Limited Residential Care Home last week ✨

In our 'New Beginnings' session we together a number of poems and quotes, including from the classic 'If' by Rudyard Kipling and 'Try again' by William Edward Hickson, as well as Ralph Waldo Emerson's beautiful poem 'To laugh often and much' - which was the inspiration for our own poem "To be understanding" below πŸ’•

With the help of quotes, music and images the group warmly shared their memories, ideas and wise words of advice, based on memories of family life in Scotland, growing up with 5 siblings and teaching youngsters in primary schools ✨

Thank you all, I hope you enjoy and look forward to seeing you next month πŸ’•
