All childhood vaccinations offered by the NHS have been used in millions of children worldwide and have an excellent safety record.

To have full protection, children sometimes need to have booster vaccines. Check their red book or speak to your GP surgery to see if they are missing any vaccines.

You can also visit www.nhs.uk/childhoodvaccinations to find out more and see if you should book an appointment for your child.

September is Thyroid Cancer Awareness Month. The thyroid gland is a small butterfly shaped gland that makes and releases hormones. It’s found at the front, lower part of your neck, just behind the small hollow where your collar bones meet.

If you’ve noticed any of these changes, or anything else unusual for you, talk to your doctor. In most cases, it won’t be cancer – but if it is, diagnosing it early can make a real difference.
