I just re read this post and it's still relevant..
I meet many people who feel broken in some way.
Occasionally it's kind of true, eg recovering from an injury. But more often when they say they feel broken what they mean is they feel like their body is letting them down.
And often the reality isn't that you're broken.
It's that..
- you're overwhelmed
- you haven't had time or capacity to care for yourself well
- you need a little bit of extra tlc and self care
My best tip if you can relate to feeling broken is to meet yourself where you're at and just do tiny little things that make you feel good, and over time all these tiny little things add up 💙
Someone said something to me the other day and it's been playing on my mind alot.
"I feel broken".
It makes me feel sad. Its horrible. But maybe also quite relatable to a lot of us too?
Do you ever feel like that? Nothing works as it should? Everything's an effort? Why isn't your body just doing what it should?
And then to make you feel even more broken, when you try to do things to "fix" the problem you often feel worse?!
It really sucks.
I don't have the magic answer but I will offer you my best tips, not from a book or a course but from what's worked for me, in the depths of chronic illness or exhaustion or burnout.
⭐️ Less is more - stop trying to push and go harder, it makes things worse
⭐️ Give yourself grace for all that you CAN do. If you show up to a class and can only do the tiniest, gentlest movements, its still a win.
⭐️Don't give meaning to things. You're not a failure because you couldn't do an exercise. You're body isn't broken because you're hamstrings are tight. Just let things be what they are without giving them power over how you see yourself.
⭐️ When you feel broken you need more love not less. Don't punish your body or push it even more. Approach it as if it's something precious that needs care and attention.. because thats the reality!
Can you relate? Have you ever felt broken ? What tips would you add?
